I would like to know if anyone has been able to get HA-DSP to work on a Linux distribution. In my case want to listen to music with HA-DSP connected to a Raspberry PI3 running MoOde music player. So far I am unable to get the music player software to recognize the HA-DSP as an usb audio device. Thanks

I just tried with Volumio and it works.

I was hoping you won't say that. I don't use Volumio but I am willing to give it a go. Is there any special process for enabling an external device. In the middle of doing FM on HA-DSP. Soon as that is done will give Volumio a shot.

OK - Just completed fresh install of Volumio on Rpi3. Connected ha-dsp to the usb port ( as I would on a computer) when I look in Playback option the only 2 audio output choices are audio jack and hdmi. Any suggestions?

I was able to get ha-dsp to work with Volumio as you indicated. So far have not been able to get to work with MoOde 4.2.

I wonder if it's necessary to increase power to the USB port?

Since last post I have done a fresh build of MoOde 4.2 and confirmed it will connect with HA-DSP. I must say the audio device configuration for volumio worked right out of the box. MoOde has taken a couple of hours and is not as reliable as it should be. I need to do more testing to see if I can narrow down the specific issues I have encountered: on boot up a loud sputtering hissing is audible and inference with MoOde UI.

I've got Moode running now, took a while to build... I get some chirping sounds (via HA-DSP) when Moode is booting.

I use the RPi only as a DLNA renderer so it doesn't make much difference to me which distro is on it. Volumio seems easier to get set up though. Seems that Moode supports OpenHome out of the box but since I already have BubbleUPnP server on my network it doesn't matter to me.

Wondering if you might tell me the cable connection used for the MoOde config. I used micro usb to ha-dsp and usb to RPi3. Worked great so I then decided I should keep ha-dsp on charge. MiniDSP dev team to use Type A usb to the ha-dsp to the wall plug that came with the unit. As soon as I did that audio signal was stopped.

Secondly, I tried volumio today but my attempt was unsuccessful. Volumio sees the hifiberry dac but does not see the ha-dsp usb device. Expected I could pick either device to accommodate the type of listening required.

Type A usb cable Pi to HA-DSP and Micro usb to usb charger connected to mains.

You can play audio through the Type A port? On the Volumio thing, you need to first turn off the I2S DAC option then the USB DAC appears.

Yes, you indeed can play audio through microUSB or the Type A. You just select Position #3 for the switch and you'll be able to stream from the TYPE A. The microUSB port is however the only port able to actually charge the batter. Hence the little trick here:

- Type A to Type A cable (www.amazon.com/CNE20650-6-Feet-Type-Cable-Black/dp/B00DR0RBV6) between RPI and HA-DSP
- Type A to microUSB between the USB Charger and HA-DSP.
