Hi. I'm strongly considering getting a DDRC-22D to be used in my recording studio. But is there a way to bypass the processing in the unit? Because in some situations it's crucial to have as little latency as possible, where it doesn't really matter when mixing. I haven't really been able to find out how much latency the Dirac processing actually introduces, but sometimes just a little can be too much. So I would really need to be able to somehow bypass it at times. Is this possible? I couldn't find anything in the manual. Thanks!

Hi again, the IR learning screen has an FIR Bypass command on it (p32 of User Manual). What latency do you need?

Yeah, me again

I couldn't find anything on p32, can you be more precise? But do I understand you correctly, so that I can create a filter without any FIR? That way I could just store on preset as my low latency preset. Correct?

What latency I need is hard to say, but in general the less the better. There are some instances where latency has to be practically zero (when working with virtual instruments or amp simulations), but when just mixing it's not that much of an issue.

I couldn't get the demo software from Dirac to work on my system, but when creating the filters I think I saw something like 30ms of latency. That is simply too much in a scenario as the one described above. But if I can set up one of the 4 filters without FIR and near zero latency, I guess that would be a workaround to a true bypass switch.

Or could I just have one filter preset empty and 'misuse' that as a bypass?

I suppose you could do that, but it would be better to just turn the filtering off. Do you have the latest manual? On the bottom of pg 32 there's a screenshot with "FIR Bypass" button. I see about 18 ms difference with filtering on vs off, but I didn't measure the actual latency with filtering turned off. I'm not even sure how I can do that... getting late here. Will try and think tomorrow.

Cool, I must indeed have had an old version. If I can turn the FIR-filtering on and off via the remote, this would probably be what I've been looking for. Thanks!

I "trained" my TacT remote for the unit. The "bypass" button on the remote now turns any room correction off or on. Nice feature for instant comparison.

Perfect, that's what I was looking for. Thanks!

@ Beauvais,

There was indeed a new UserManual released about 1 week ago. Make sure that you've got that last version. :-)

Nice to hear that it's all working and that you're even using your Tact remote for it. :-)

i am struggling to get Windows etc. etc. to run on an iMac using VirtualBox. Can't download Adobe Air for some reason. Anyway I have been using the unit as a DAC in a Pro Recording setup. It is possible to bypass the filters using the rotary controller. I have done it several time but never managed to figure out exactly what I did..... just keep turning and clicking until the light goes off I reckon.....LOL

@ Dan,

The process is simple: Press once to get to the source selection + Dirac Live bypass at the bottom. The LED will start flashing. Just scroll to get to the Dirac Live. Press again. It will "toggle" the state. You can easy toggle from one to another state with the IR remote. Easy.

Hi DevTeam, you really need to actually read my posts before replying.
As I said, " It is possible to bypass the filters using the rotary controller."
And No you cannot select Dirac Live nor cause it to flash. But you can get it to go from one state to another.
I have just done it again just now, and again, I cannot figure out how. Just random turning and clicking.
