Okay....I found the manual, so it looks like this thing is automated for stereo, which is a bit of a bummer, because in many instances, I might actually be using dual mono setups, because the system may be 70V. It would be nice to integrate the option to measure a single speaker, then measure the second one, and assume that they are in different rooms. I know this may not be that popular for home, but for business, it sure would be.

Secondly, I just realized (duh) that you have to have the computer where the stereo system is AND where the speakers are at the same time. That can be difficult in many instances. Sometimes, the system could be 100' away. I'm assuming that the software won't recognize a USB to ethernet adaptor, so......what's the solution? Very long USB cords? I don't know if USB can work at some of these distances.

Uh, didn't you read the manual before ordering? I downloaded it as soon as it was posted and read several times. I had to measure the distance from my PC to equipment cabinet to make sure the USB extension would reach. It just barely did. Guess you really need a laptop to do this. I wonder if we can install the software on two devices? I read that the Dirac license is for only one install. What happens if a HD fails or we buy a new PC. There must be a way around that.

Hi John,

as you know there is a specification for the max length of USB passive cables (appx. 5 meters for USB 2.0) but you can use active ones... you may be interested in this thread where a 100 feet one has been used (with some lag): www.avsforum.com/t/1436483/maximum-usb-cable-length

@ Fornetto,

Sorry for the misconfiguration. Somehow there are multiple users under your name and the email address was different for paypal/user account. Anyway, you should now be all set! Let us know if you have any issues.

Thanks! I'll look at that now. Was wondering if someone had USB to ethernet or wi-fi adaptor. Will check it out.

Not that intrepid. I think I will go for OpenDRC for most apps and save Dirac for rooma with serious problems. If someone wanted to upgrade to Dirac from OpenDRC. ....we might be able to.work a deal as I think that will be good for what I actually need.

At Computer Audiophile I have written up my latest changes to the filter, triggered by the observations of the extremely good ears of my dealer friend

The cutoff frequencies are now 2,000 Hz left and 4,000 Hz right and the result is incredibly good. The location of the voices and instruments are much more localized and precise than with the 500 / 700 filter, but there is no perceptible loss of the high frequencies which bothered me so much with the full filter. The improved coherence also improves makes the timbre seem better as well. The system sounds incredible, sweat and realistic.

I could not be happier

@Eurodriver,

Very interesting testing.. Almost like if you're enjoying the de-correlation between L&R speakers in this setup. Usually, signals that are not correlated would sound more difuse/surrounding from what I recall reading.. Maybe something you're enjoying? Anyway, it's not something we had ever tried (and not sure if the Dirac team ever did) but in any ways, we're glad that you have the tools to try different settings as you see fit!

Hi,

Now after releasing the calibration for the 64bit. The 22d finally works. But ais very difficult to store the new filters in the device, there are often errors. Then I have a serius problem: the input SPDIF does not work. The optical and balanced work fine. Can anyone help me?

As an idea, you could try to run the Dirac software in "Compatibility Mode"

The Dirac software runs great in Windows 7 Home premium, so there is a chance Dirac

@ Fornetto.

This is odd since we couldn't seen any of these loading issue on our extensive testing during that short time. Few suggestions:
- Make sure that .net 3.5 is enabled: support.microsoft.com/kb/2785188
- Make sure that you do NOT have the 2 software running together (small IR programmer software + Dirac Calibration tool). If you do it will throw some error as both software are trying to communicate with the unit. we need to add this to the user manual.
- SPDIF: It's tested at the factory here before shipping obviously. We'd need more info. Are you able to select it fine with the front panel as a source?

Please open a ticket with us with the contact us form (www.minidsp.com/support/contactus) so we can track your issue. Forum are for basic support and not easy at all for us to track/share files. Thanks for your understanding.

I put in an order in for one of the Dirac devices on the 15th. Looking forward to trying it out. We build custom loudspeakers for our installations and adding a device like this should provide a nice improvement. Any idea when it will ship? Not in a big hurry, but we are installing a system out of state and I wanted to test at our office before it gets shipped to the site.
