Some very exciting news coming your way!! As some of you may have noticed from this page (www.minidsp.com/products/dirac-series), we're indeed about to release a new range of Dirac powered platforms. Little to say that we're really excited by this premium room correction solution brought to you thanks to the extensive R&D work by miniDSP & Dirac's team !

Our expected shipping date is mid/end of March so keep checking here for further announcements.
As for the early warning, most of you know that miniDSP's philosophy is to never talk of a product unless it's ready to ship. In this case, we're indeed ready to ship (as we've perfected this solution for quite some time now). We're just ironing some minor software GUI details hence the "prelim" release. It's no vaporware, it's a real product. :-)

A complete user manual, datasheets and extensive app notes are in the process so stay tuned!

That looks VERY cool.

Now hopefully you can go back to concentrating on the promised firmware updates for your minisharc fanbase:whistle:

Can't believe no one else has tagged onto this thread. Is no one else excited ?

Hi all,

this is really exciting.
I know DIRAC theoretically or let's say I've been on a demonstration hearing where DIRAC was explained and measurements were made with actual speakers.
The improvements in sound quality were unbelievable.
I didn't purchased DIRAC until now because I hate PC's in my audio chain.
So if there will be a solution available based on the DIRAC stereo version with the same resolution (taps) and running on miniSHARC that would be perfect.
And I'll be one of the first to order it.

Therefore one of the most interesting question is whether DIRAC provides the same functionality, filters, 9-point measurement and so on like the PC version.

Best regards

Thomas

Very cool indeed.

I just hope you make a multi channel version for surround use.

I'd hope for 16 channels of DIRAC live please Sir!:)

Also 96khz.

And a box with regular XLR would be awesome.

One can only dream:)

Just, please, PLEASE, digital/analog inputs AND digital/analog outputs.

The problem with the current platforms is that you have to work around them quite a bit, and if something changes, you would have to go buy a different machine.

It is better to separate units, not into digital OR analog, but consumer (RCAs and Toslink) versus professional (AES/EBU and XLR).

Maybe this can be integrated into the HDMI platform???

I assume this is better than Audyssey and that they understand target curves better........

Dear All,
Glad to see the good reception! :-)

@ Thomas,
Yes, the Dirac Stereo version is the full version (highest number of taps) and running @ 96kHz (highest sample rate from Dirac Live). It will actually be a custom software package for miniDSP. All features will be the same as the software. Just the last step will be to load the correction filter to the DDRC hardware DSP box instead of using the PC as processor. Hoping this clarifies.

@ the multichannel & HDMI crowd,
We hear you, we'd love to have multichannel as well.. :-) We just start small. Like any product line. Maybe not too obvious to everybody but these are really complex products to engineer and the results of quite few months of R&D. Thanks for your patience and support. :-)

I hope that the Dirac series eventually works with the ability to do XO as well. If there was something like the minisharc that allowed us to do FIR crossovers like we can now and then add Dirac room correction universally at the input to a particular config that would be awesome!!

I only hope the software plugin isn't the same eye watering cost that the Dirac software currently is!!

Hi Stefan, this could be done by putting the Dirac processor in front of a nanoDIGI or 2x8/4x10HD miniSHARC, couldn't it?

It could, however I'd have thought the minisharc had the ability to do it all in one board if the firmware/plugins were written for it saving loads of money and really bolstering the product line.

We'll have to wait and see what hardware the dev team are using but I'd be surprised if they moved away from the Sharc so soon as they've got a few products based on it now which must streamline support and development somewhat..
