I've recently installed this unit on a '14 Jetta where all speakers are in stock locations and measured the distance manually for verification. Upon using Dirac Live I noticed that it always sets all of my channels at 19ms, I have used different settings slots and nothing. Hence this is messing up the stage. When I put the delays manually without enabling DL, i can the stage just right.

I tried setting delays manually on C-DSP after DL calibration but im sure the DSP takes Dirac's measurements instead of mine. The weird thing too is that it adjusts gains well and calibrates frequencies just fine.

Im using a 90-degree narrow band cal file for my UMIK-1. What could be causing this? mic? cal file? DSP?

Interesting, same value everywhere, and 20ms is the maximum delay for this unit.
But it seems so strange they would all use the same, and such a high delay!
Could it just be a display bug? How does it sound?

There’s also a 20db difference on subs, I would fix the levels upfront first.

It could be a display bug because the stage doesn't sound bad, buts its not as well as setting it manually pre-dirac (for comparison testing). Ill try a different computer with C-DSP. As per the sub, Dirac 8 should be off as I turned that channel on the DIRAC channel window.

Im thinking:
  1. Use a different PC to check values
  2. Re-installing FW update, check
  3. Doing a factory reset on the unit, check
Edit: Just tried some and got:
  1. Use a different PC to check values = Values carried over, no software bug
  2. Re-installing FW update, check = Values carried over (I think I did the update right, apparently it takes 10s to do the update from the SD card, got no indication it was completed. I already had the latest but tried re-loading it)
  3. Doing a factory reset on the unit, check. Got this left

I have not used DL on my 8x12 when I had it, but was curious so I read the manual.
And p.36, it looks like DL is still not optimised for active crossover support, they advise to use only two channels in and not one DL channel per driver.
Is it your case?

It's not all channels. Dirac 7 is at 0ms.

Somehow the speaker connected to Dirac 7 is 20ms later than the rest.
Is there an amplifier inbetween perhaps that is adding a 20ms delay to that speaker?

If not, could it be there are some reflections that are so loud/bad Dirac sees it as a delayed signal?

So great news, I fixed it.

I started with just two channels overall and built from there, right off the bat I got better results and gave me hope.

Then I added everything, pair by pair, and finally, everything works. But this was just the test. The root of the cause? The routing. As I added channels I was able to really think about the routing and channels and one part did not make sense, so I fixed it below, and finally, everything is working as its supposed to.

Additional notes:
You really can disable gains and delays in Dirac (if really needed) on the last stage of tunning when making filters.

Lessons learned??
- Considering these units have like 3 pages of routing, so it's easy to get stuff mixed. Start slow and really chase the signal with your head (label accordingly) as youre routing a single channel, then do the same for the rest. One by one.

-I believe Dirac also messes with the phase because some speakers would test in-phase pre-Dirac and off-phase post-Dirac.

Best staging I had so far too, the sound literally feels like it's coming from the center dash and I don't have a center channel, the sub also just "disappeared" You feel and hear it but can't tell where it is. And another cool thing is that even music from low-bit rate sources like youtube sound so much better. Love these Dirac units.

Thanks again everyone

I have a question.
In the ddrc88a bm screenshot you posted, I noticed that the outputs are set to 1-7 and 8-12.
I'm curious how you do it.
Did you connect two ddrc88a?
In this case, can Dirac do measure all 14 channels at once?

Hey Sungmin,

Im not using a "DDRC88", im actually using a different device called "C-DSP 8x12 DL" ( www.minidsp.com/products/car-audio-dsp/cdsp-8x12-dl ) which has 12 output channels and dirac can adjust all 12 channels.
