Has anyone experienced a static shock when performing a DIRAC calibration?  In the winter, in my listening room, moving from place to place and then touching the MIC or MIC-Stand will frequently (not always) give me a shock.  Has this affected your MIC performance? Knocked out your MIC or USB port?  Let me know your experiences...

I experienced many static shocks with also USB devices involved. Depends sometimes on what clothes you're wearing. Sometimes shoes and carpet build up static energy.
Sometimes it was so bad it hard reset my Laptop when I touched a connected USB device.
Not specifically while measuring with a mic.
But I can imagine you wearing a woolen jumper or something like this. Or you charge static energy by getting up walking to the mic back and forth.

I have no good solution but try to ground yourself everytime or maybe change your clothes or walk barefoot?

The most practical sentence to a problem posted this year.  Many thanks.  I will go barefoot when performing my next calibration.  Might do it in my foundations!  I have TOASTED (4) Emotiva EMM mic/cables in the last three years due to this issue.  I am going to give a UMIK-1 a chance for my Dirac calibrations instead of the Emotiva setup.  Good thoughts!
