The user guide explain that the LFE on discs is recorded at -10dB and states that Dirac knows this and will make sure that the channel is boosted by +10db to compensate but what informs Dirac of when it does and doesnt need to do this?

I feed the 88A from the 6 channel out of an Oppo Blu-Ray which by default doesn't boost the sub and the Dirac boost is thus required, but I can go into the oppo settings and give the sub channel a +10dB trim in which case the Dirac boost is not required.

I see mention in the manual of "custom" or "5.1 / 7.1" configurations but dont see where to apply any configuration. There is 'speaker configuration' where you can tell Dirac if the speaker is: Unknown, small/bass managed, Large/Full range, Subwoofer... etc. but I'm not sure that's the answer as the manual says "The speaker type is currently provided for user information only

Anyone know as this is making my head hurt?! Thanks

Edit: I have emailed the DevTeam on this and they're trying to help me understand but if someone out there knows please chip in.
