Dear All

Most of you with an active issue have indeed already been in touch with our support team (i.e. official line of support) but here is an update for others just reading/wondering.
- If you do have an issue with Monterey + Dirac Live + Low level of microphone, step#1 = creating a support ticket on our portal (support.minidsp.com)
- We've been in talks for the past 2weeks with Dirac team non stop on this topic. We're indeed monitoring the issue actively. We do have 2 x Monterey installs at our office but can't easily reproduce the install somehow. :-(
- The current UMIK-1 (USB C, no volume control) has been in service/shipping since June 2021. i.e. zero firmware/software change since then. We can therefore safely assume that it's not specific to the microphone else it would have been Armageddon for the past 9months.. :-)
- The original issue listed in this support ticket is indeed different we believe although related. To get access to the microphone, Dirac live and our server implementation (Able to communicate with Dirac live) requires some access to microphone on Monterey. Our server wasn't getting proper access before when Monterey updated their rules and we solved that issue 2months ago with the new build of our plugin + server that runs behind the scenes. We don't believe that it's related here.(see below) as the issue happens with other customers (E.g. not using miniDSP hardware, just our microphone).
- We've actually been made aware over the week end that downgrading Dirac Live to v3.1.2 indeed solves the issue. We've shared this information with Team Dirac.

Workaround:
- If you're under Monterey, have correctly enabled access to the microphone and still have issues, please have a trial at downgrading  Dirac v3.1.2 from here confluence.dirac.services/display/DLS/Software+Changelogs  It should solve the issue and give some time to team Dirac to see what could be the trigger here. Please report here/support ticket if that did the trick.

Thanks again for your patience and support.

I was about to test the new version, when I noticed it's for the USB-C mic.
My UMIK-1 is MicroUSB (I purchased my DDRC-22D back in 2017)

However, rather than try to make it work with my old mic, I just ordered a new USB-C UMIK-2. I hate MicroUSB anyways. :)

Hopefully, that resolves my issues.

I am having the exact same problem, low S/N ratio. Both when I am using my laptop and the mic that came with my NAD T778, and when I try the mobile app. I tried increasing the system sound and reducing the mic gain, and once or twice have gotten some measurements with my laptop. After I make those adjustments and move on with the process, if I go back to the volume settings, the system volume and mic gain have changed from what I had set.
It's odd because I recently had my genius systems integrator over to check out my settings after purchasing the Panasonic 9000 4K UHD Blue Ray player. He updated all my components software and then did the DL calibration with his phone with no problems. What's up with that?

I'm also having this issue. M1 Mac, MacOS Sonoma 14.0. Unable to adjust input volume and the microphone is incredibly low. I have to practically yell into the mic for it to register any input at all. Cannot calibrate with Dirac at all. Incredibly frustrating. This is a brand new UMIK-1, USB-C version.

Yesterday and to day, i have tried many times to calibrate my two Flex with DL, I always get an ERROR message that the signal is too low.
This worked OK one week ago, frustrating really. Moving the volume up/down both mic and master, no hjelp. I hear noise in the speakers at the end of the measuring prosess. I use Umik-2, Mac Os Big Sur 11.7.10, the latest DC sw and Flex fw, DL 3.4.4.

For those of you encountering a similar issue: I suspect there is a bug with either how they're calibrating the mics and how it interacts with Macs in particular, or something specifically Mac related going on. Because this mic was not functional at all on mac, but I luckily also have a PC laptop at home, and when I plugged it into it (same cable) I suddenly had control over the input volume and the mic was functional.

Really unfortunate for those of you who don't have access to a PC, but I would try it if you've tried everything else.

I have a laptop pc with Win10. I did the full setup of DC/drivers/DL. Started to calibrate again, and yes all worked as it should, calibration successful.
I also think these calibration problems have something to do with OSX sw and microphone integration.
I have not reported this problem to Minidsp support yet,
