Sorry I'm not able to help bbstra407. Did you try the suggestion by the development team 5 days ago in this thread?

As far as I can tell, I tried about everything. I’ll borrow an older Mac from a friend to do the calibration -but in the end its not a viable solution !

Ok, you are a Mac user. Were you running Monterey OS when you were having these issues? Have you installed the latest miniDSP update referred to earlier in this thread?

I’m indeed running Mas OS Monterey.
The only download option for the DDRC-22D is: DDRC_22_v1_12.zip

Point 2 is the one supposed to have taken care of the problem:Rev 1.12 / Dec 2020
1. Updated minidsp-dirac bridging app to use any free ports instead of fixed at 5000 or 8080 which may be blocked or used by other apps.
2. Fixed start up Dirac Live from plugin under macOS cannot access the microphone problem.
3. Used 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost, so, user edit to host file is not necessary anymore.

Ok, this sounds like something definitely to take up with tech support and hopefully can be resolved for you soon.

Ok. Now I’m baffled. Just got the iMac of my deceased friend (he can’t help me de-buging…) who was running Dirac 3 on a miniDSP SHD. I installed miniDSP DDRC-22D. Call Dirac from the DDRC pannel; log in to my Dirac account; get the pink noise generated but no readings ! get the exact same (no) results ! And I can exclude the UM1K since he was using mine to calibrate.

I must be doing something wrong here. At least, I hope it’s me !

Any ideas ?

Apologies, I'm an SHD user...hopefully you get the answer you are looking for from tech support. Also try posting a new post the DDRC-22D users explaining your situation.

In desperation (I'm reading about everything I can to solve the issue...), I found on Sweetwater site recommandations on how to tune Privacy settings for Mac OS Monterey for audio:
  • In the General menu, for “Allow apps downloaded from:” select App Store and identified developers.
  • In the General menu, immediately after installing an audio or MIDI driver, click Allow to unblock the software from loading.
  • In the FileVault menu, turn off FileVault. If turned on, use your iCloud account or recovery key to turn it off.
  • In the Firewall menu, turn off the Firewall.
  • In the Privacy menu, under Location Services, disable Location Services.
  • In the Privacy menu, under Analytics, uncheck Share Mac Analytics and Share with App Developers.
  • In the Privacy menu, under Microphone, check all apps (DAWs or anything else that uses your audio devices) that you want to record audio with.
  • In the Privacy menu, under Accessibility, check iLok and all other necessary audio or licensing apps.
I'm kind of reluctant to do all of these. Anyone having a take on this ?

Today, I borrowed an almost brand new UM1K (USB C) from a friend. First thing I noted, gain is set at 18 dB (mine is 0 dB). Recognized by the system, etc.: same (no) results: no modulation in the Dirac software.
Also, when starting Dirac, the app does not ask for permission to use the mic.
Here's an answer I got from Dirac, this morning:Hello, the app should ask for permission to use the mic but it seems like the MiniDSP software has (or haad) a bug that makes Dirac Live behave strange when it's started from the Mini DSP application but...I heard of a beta version of the miniDSP software that works just fine, please let us know what they have to say.As far as the license is concerned you're correct, you don't need a license as the DDRC-22D is licensed by default. Also, please take into account that you should be able to use the latest Dirac Live updates.

follow-up on my case :
My system is a simple stereo 3 ways. As mentioned, I had a 4x10HD before that blew up, I contact miniDSP and they recommended me the DDRC-88A, so I bought it

1- the issue I had (signal to noise ration too low) was my bad, wrong mixer config. Support team kindly sent me the proper tutorial for the set up
2- Once that fixed, it was'nt working, all the signal was going to my left woofer. I sent my config to the support team that told me every thing was correct but I would need the BM option wit this extract of the tutorial :

Again, my bad, as it was not making sense to me, I did not read it...

after another exchange with the support team, I finally bought the BM option and it's working fine now.
What is not clear to me now, is why the BM pluggin is an option? For a simple system as mine, it is not....

Pencoat,
Not quite sure I understand your "comment" (at least I hope I don't, if you follow me here...)
I do read all the F manuals (from appliances to computers to all audio equipment -and been doing so since lets just say: a LONG time).
I'm indeed in contact with the Tech support team at miniDSP and we are narrowing down the issu.
And it could well be a "code 17", I'm always assuming I'm the one doing something wrong, not the machine.
So if you don't have any constructive "comments" to make, well, have a good day, Sir ;-)

sorry for the confusion, the comment was just for me,... I've actually hijacked your thread thinking I had the same issue ( same symptom ) but so far, it was a code 17 (Mixer configuration and did not have the BM plugin) and just wanted to do a follow-up on my case.... If I can, I will update my post to avoid any confusion....

This being said, I have another issue, and I'm not sure I'm the source now :-) I run back the DIrac configuration process and I have that message "Samples lost during recording"....
I've open a new ticket...
Have a good day :-)

Again, apologies, (BTW, I used to be "carlosdeljunco" who started this thread but was having issues posting and sharing URLs with those posts being rejected by the miniDSP forum hosts as "spam", so now I'm "cardel17").

I'm waiting receive a second sub back from repair before running more Dircal Live tests so unable to contribute at this point until I finally get back to doing more tests.

In the meantime, good luck to both of you peacoat and bbsrta407 and hope you get things figured out!

I believe I'm experiencing the same or a similar problem.
Using:
  • MacBook Air M1
  • MacOS Monterey 12.3.1
  • DDRC22-D (with latest firmware)
  • Dirac Live 3 (latest downloadable version)
  • UMIK-1 with calibration file
  • Microphone and File permissions set properly

I cannot get the Direct 3 Volume Calibration to register any sound, no matter what I set the mic gain to. Also.. using the built-in MacBook mic doesn't register any sound either.

Moving to a Windows laptop, the same components work fine.

Mellroc,

I'm almost glad someone is experiencing the same issue.
I'm in an intensive pinpointing process with the Technical Support Team. I'll keep you (ans anyone having the same issue) posted.
In the meantime please try this sequence with the Mac rig:
  • Open DDRC-22D App. Connect with the app, to validate that the USB connection works.
  • From the app., connect to Dirac Live and select DDRC-22D (then, I know, you do not get any input level from UM1K-1).
  • Quit Dirac Live.
  • Open Dirac Live as a standalone app: it should now recognize the DDRC-22D unit and you should get enough level to make some measurements but can't get the mic's gain slider to apply gain.

That is where I am at with the issue :-)
