Just got my DDRC-22 and starting the process. However, I keep getting issues getting connected. First, I'm getting an issue when Dirac is scanning for a device. Even though I'm connected it won't detect the device. I did get it to detect once but then when I clicked on the device it said my network wasn't available. I closed everything, rebooted the software, and now I'm back to Dirac failing to detect the device again. This is not a good start.... any help?

How long is the USB cable that you're using to connect with? Are you connecting directly or via a USB hub?

Network availability probably relates to the required connection to the Dirac servers I think, rather than from your computer to the device.

USB cable is 15'. This makes no sense. I made sure it had the latest firmware. Then it sometimes connects but often doesn't. If it connects, as soon as I hit Start Dirac Software it disconnects. If I go back to  update firmware and hit reset device and then connect again I can connect. But then when I go back to Dirac software it still doesn't find the device. If go back to the utility and hit Upgrade Firmware again, I immediately get disconnected and cannot reconnect to the device until I go back and hit reset again. This is a pretty shitty experience. Doubt I'm keeping this. I don't have time and patience to spend just getting something installed. Bummer, I had Dirac before and was really looking forward to this.

You seem to be giving up incredibly quickly! I'll post a little to see if I can help but you'll get more help if you contact miniDSP Support directly (just not immediately).

My experience is with the SHD rather than DDRC-22D but I think it's the same...

When you click on 'Start Dirac Live Software' button in the miniDSP plugin, it's normal that doing so will disconnect from the device if previously connected. This should though launch the Dirac Live software for you. Does it? Note that you shouldn't have opened the Dirac Live software manually first, in case that's what you did?

Thanks just frustrated because I don’t have a lot of time and don’t want to spend all weekend just installing this. I let the utility start the Dirac software. I didn’t know it’s normal for it to then disconnect or show it’s disconnected. I’ll try again when I’m back home and just in case I’ll try with the supplied usb.

I use a 5 m (about 15') USB lead OK. I have occasionally seen issues with others using longer leads, although this may have been longer than this. Not sure now. Something to rule out if you do still find you have issues though.

Wound up switching to my wife’s laptop. Another hour of downloads and updated snd I am able to connect. However now I’m not getting any sound when trying to set up the speakers and mic sensitivity. I also cannot change the digital source or the unit itself. Ok try pressing the knob twice and I get nothing. I turn the wheel and I get nothing. I press once and can change the filter but cannot change the source.

Ignore. Just unplugged everything and plugged back in and can switch output.

Here's where I'm at after hours with device yesterday, and reading any article/forum on similar issues and watching youtube videos....

I get to the speaker/mic calibration but I am not getting any sound. I've tried turning the volume up on the sliders, making sure my system volume is good. I have it connected via aes/ebu from my Auralic streamer. The device is selected on aes/ebu. Then I have the coax and optical outputs to my dac. Neither work. I have made sure the dac is on the right input. I have the usb connected to my windows10 pc. I've also just tried streaming music from the auralic to the ddrc-22d out to my dac and rest of system and no sound. I've tried the optical and aes/ebu from the streamer to the ddrc-22d and then out to the dac, again testing multiple outputs. I've tried unplugging everything, and plugging back in, updating firmware, resetting ddrc-22d, not sure what else there is try.

I installed a new DDRC-22d between my Aries G2.1 and a denafrips dac.Without doing any correction yet I have sound. Did you switch the streamer output from USB to digital output via the lightning DS ?
If so then connect the Aries directly to your dac via AES and try that. If that is ok then I think you have a bad DDRC

I’ve had no problem running the Aries to my dac with the aes/ebu connection. Good to know you’re using an Aries so I know that’s likely not the issue.

Ok, figured it out. I basically had to turn the volume up all the way to just get enough sound to run the sweeps. I had been reluctant to turn up the volume so much and didn't think I'd have to. Afterwards, I noticed that the default is -10 db attenuation. Not sure how I missed this. Once I set it 0 everything is good. At least I knew I had it set up correctly. Posting this here so more people having the issue may read this. If you're not getting sound set the attenuation to 0 and then try again!

Hi,

I had the "no sound" issue when I bought my DDRC-22D. Had an extensive communication with the support guys, and they did not know the answer then. I figured it out by myself: just start a youtube video and turn the sound way down low using the youtube slider (you can also play music at a very, very low level). Let the video play, and then start the Dirac measurement. In my case: problem solved! Apparently the DDRC-22D needs some sort of signal going through it when you start measuring. The very low level of the playing video/music does not interfere with the measurements. I communicated my solution with the support team.

Regards, Ron

Yeah like has been said , ^^

you have to start Dirac with the start Dirac live button in the plug in…

the reason is , you have to connect to the plug in first and get connected to the dsp , that way it has a path from all the ports to the internet. The plug in sends Dirac live the path to the internet by being connected to the plug in…

even tho the plug in looses connection after you press the start Dirac button, it hands off to Dirac information on its connectivity and ports and such so it can find the device in Dirac.
