I just setup a UST projector, and like most I'm struggling to find a good center placement opiton.  I'm wondering, is there a relatively easy to way to use the DDRC-24 to setup a tri-center if I have 3 of the same speaker?

I'm open to any other suggestions, that's just the most compelling I've seen so far.

Would you use just the tri-center speakers themselves at any point? Or are they always played with the rest of the HT set?
If by themsleves sometimes, you may find some advantage in using the Dirac Live in the DDRC-24.
If however they are always played with the rest of the speakers, a 2x4HD will do the job fine.

I don't think there's any value in applying Dirac to only part of the mix.

Well, I was thinking of something similar to time aligning subs before presenting them to an AVR.  So I was align/tune using the DDRC-24, and then plug that into the AVR's center channel pre-out.  Hopefully the DDRC would alleviate combing, reflections, etc. just on thta channel and then I could further do holistic integration with Audyssey, etc.

Strange idea, I know, just trying to be creative given the constraints of a UST layout.

AVR Center Pre out to DDRC-24 to AVR Center in? So filtering one signal to three speakers?
The best way to filter three speakers would be to AVR Center Pre out to DDRC-24 splitting signal 3 ways, applying Dirac to the three signals, and then to a 3 channel power amp, one channel per speaker.

Both are serious compromises though. Dirac works best applied to the whole mix.

IMO, you'd be better off either:
  • Mounting the projector inverted above the screen so you can use a regular center speaker or
  • Rearranging your furniture below the screen so you have two shelves, one for the projector and one for a regular center speaker.
