Hi guys, I skimmed the Dirac and UMIK forums and did a keyword search using 'Dayton' and 'Mic' but nothing jumped out at me. Apologies if already covered elsewhere, please redirect me if that is the case.

I want to give the DDRC-24 a try. $50 won't kill me but I was wondering if I could use my existing Dayton calibration Mic and code instead of the UMIKs?

Hi,
I think.. think, you can. The reason being - When you start the Dirac software, the first thing you do is select the Dirac enable/connected device (in your case DDRC24) and the second screen lets you select your connected recording device.

So if you have a different usb mic connected it should presumably show up as an option. When I get to that screen I see my umik1 and the laptop’s own internal mic.

have you checked both the ddrc24 and Dirac manuals?

Thanks. Did a little RTFM as you suggested. No precise mention of any possible incompatibility but the UMIK-1 and UMIK-2 actually have two calibration files. A regular one and one at 90 degrees. The Dayton only has one, so even if it was recognized and worked. I think I'd probably go with a UMIK.

You can use any mic the pc will recognize... or sound card that has mic inputs

I have a earthworks m30 and a audio control 550 and a umm6 Dayton that all work just fine through my tascam us-366
