I've been reading through various documents...and also this forum looking for guidance but have some unanswered questions I'm really hoping someone can answer.

1) Does using DL negate/disable any Xover/PEQ/Comp settings that may have been setup on the DDRC-24 using the miniDSP software? Or, are the DDRC-24 settings 'additive' with anything the DL does? If so, which one is processed first? (Guessing miniDSP PEQ/Xover/Comp)
EDIT - From some searches, it appears that any PEQ/timing that is setup in the DDRC-24 is processed first before DL does its thing. So it's cumulative. which is what I was hoping. This way, I can take care of the glaring issues using PEQ....and then DL finish the job.

2) A big one here is....in trying to setup a 2.1 system, I've initially followed this guide :
- Is this guide still accurate? Would anyone recommend deviating from this in any way?
- I've seen a posting that we should actually remove any Xover settings before running DL. That contradicts these instructions. Until now, I've setup an 80Hz HP filter on the L+R speakers Output and an 80Hz LP filter for the sub Output.

3) When I get to the Volume Calibration tab, I see a Dirac1 and Dirac2 listed for speakers. Dirac1 plays pink nose on both the L and R channels (RCA connector 1 and 2 output). Dirac2 plays pink noise only on the sub (3rd RCA connector output). Is this how it should be working?
EDIT - Found mistake in the Input section of the DDRC-24 app. Corrected. Now Dirac1 is Left channel+sub and Dirac2 is Right channel+sub.

4) Measure Tab: When I take measurements, it does a sweep on Dirac1, then Dirac2, then Dirac1 again. This seems odd. It checks the L+R, then sub, then L+R. Is this expected/correct behavior?
EDIT - This was corrected when I fixed #3

5) What happens if I manually move the curtains out? I tried and it has only a very minimal effect on the Corrected curve. I'm guessing that DL will only (or can only) raise levels a certain amount?

6) When I measure and then get to the Filter Design tab, I have curtains showing for 77.2Hz and 17.6KHz. This doesn't make any sense to me. Even the small speakers measure nearly flat down to 70Hz

7) It appears that after starting DL from the miniDSP software, DL shuts down the connection to the miniDSP software (DDRC-24 client app then shows that it's disconnected). Normal?
- I *did* set the volume in the Volume Calibration tab this way: (These settings get the mic response to about the middle of the blue zone)
- Master volume all the way up
- Mic gain at +2.2dB
- Dirac1 and Dirac2 all the way up at 0dB

8) With this setup and having the LP/HP filters running on the DDRC-24 app, and DL having done its correction....how is the result I'm getting different from what DLBC would provide?

Info about my setup:
Small bookshelf speakers (f3 around 40Hz) and powered sub (temp sub) f3 around 30Hz. (using the LFE input)
2 channel amp
DDRC-24 input using TOSLINK

1) Page 21 of the DDRC-24 manual shows the signal flow. Dirac does not disable anything.

2) For a 2.1 system you do NOT want to remove the x-over prior to running Dirac. Dirac as implemented in the DDRC-24 is stereo, this means that Dirac has no ability to "see" the different output channels, it can only "see" Dirac 1 / Dirac 2 input channels (left/right).

4) It has been a while since I have ran a Dirac and I honestly do not remember but what you describe seems reasonable.

5/6) Curtains limit the extent of correction. For example if you limit the curtains to 100 Hz to 500 Hz it will NOT correct anything outside of that frequency range. You should move the curtains to your desired range of correction.

7) This is normal. You should follow the volume calibration instructions on page 26 of the Dirac Live manual.

8) I have not personally used DLBC but my understanding is that it will provide correction to individual output channels and may even set crossovers between your main and subs. As mentioned above Dirac as implemented in the DDRC-24 is stereo only.

4) I forgot to update my original post, but this 'question/issue' was resolved when I fixed #3. Thanks though.

5/6) Curtains limit the extent of correction. For example if you limit the curtains to 100 Hz to 500 Hz it will NOT correct anything outside of that frequency range. You should move the curtains to your desired range of correction.
Makes sense. In those cases though where the curtains are not covering the full range, why would it do that? What is the logic that causes the curtains to be narrower? And....are there any negative effects to widening the curtains from what DL initially sets?

8) I have not personally used DLBC but my understanding is that it will provide correction to individual output channels and may even set crossovers between your main and subs. As mentioned above Dirac as implemented in the DDRC-24 is stereo only.
Yeah, I've read some threads about this, but apparently what's been said just hasn't given me a 'lightbulb' moment. Really curious what it is that I'm missing by not having DLBC.
