I have a new 88A, and im new to DSP work, but so far it's fairly intuitive.

I cannot get the Dirac software to do anything but complain:

It's a relatively quiet room, it complains even to very loud levels.

Should I raise master output a lot more, and lower mic gain?

At a loss.

You're getting this error as you most likely don't have 8ch. Please follow our manual to configure the channel count correctly from the 88BM plugin (p9).

I will work on that tomorrow.

You are right, Im not using the 8th channel.

You -could- improve the error message on this.. ;)
