Hi,
can I mix miniDSP-24 with internal PEQ filters of the receiver in a 5.1 system? The problem: very tight budget. The goal: to get Dirac 3.0 at least for music in stereo and if possible in 5.1 for movies.
The chain of my system is the following: dvd-cd player to receiver via hdmi for movie and via analog rca cable to receiver for music; crossover, bass management and manual PEQ 10 filters into the receiver; front left and right channel from the receiver to external amp and one channel to sub; finally center and surrounds speakers connected to the receiver.

My idea is to use miniDSP-24 for EQ with Dirac 3.0 to eq the fronts speakers and the sub and use the filters of the receiver to complete the lob. This way I could listen music with full Dirac advantages because the cd are decoded by the dvd-cd player and analog signal passes through the receive unaltered to the external amp and could improve the sound for movies.
Is it a bad idea?
Here is my system: Cambridge CRX dvd-cd player, Rotel RSX-1562 7.2 receiver, Bryston 3Bcube amp, SVS PC-2000 sub.

what you could do is the following:
- in the receiver, set fronts to large and set sub to none. now all low will go to the fronts
- connect LR RCA output of receiver to the input of the DDRC24, outputs of DDRC24 to external amp & sub
- use the DDRC24 to do the X-over between fronts and sub
- do Dirac for stereo setup

Thanks @Juoigâ. Ok for stereo but what about 5.1 set-up is there a way? I thought the following: set fornts at large in the receiver and sub to no xo (full range IR) then EQ with dirac 3.0 for flat response. After that, is it a good idea to then set the speakers to small, set xo to 80Hz (for te sake of the argument) ? Or is it a waste of time and money?

you should do the Dirac with the same set-up as how you will listen. so if you do the setup for the FL and sub the same for 5.1 and stereo, the Dirac will be the same.
