I haven’t checked in for a couple months and was wondering if there is any word on MiniDSP products supporting Dirac Live Bass Control. And if so, which products? Thanks, Chip.

There has been no announcement that I remember seeing.

For what it's worth, for all of the two input miniDSP products I doubt it's technically possible for DLBC to be implemented.

I wanted to ask the same question, but specifically about the "DDRC-88A" and the "DDRC-88BM" plugin.

Yea, from what little I understand, the 88A and 88BM plug-in seems to be the most likely fit.

I am curious if there will be a product with that bass add-on at the price of the 88A. Until now it seems to be included only in much more expensive units. For example, I got a NAD C658, because there was no mini DSP with hdmi input. People are waiting for it to get the bass control, but I highly doubt it will happen.

Out of interest doe the C658 currently have the capability of adjusting the time delay between main speakers and subwoofer(s)? I've not been able to tell when I've looked quickly before and I'd thought that this is probably the area where the SHD series has a clear technical advantage? Such capability would be necessary at least at the hardware level for DLBC to even be possible.

There is only a crossover-frequency adjustment, which was added after the unit was released (before, it was only on/off). I am not sure, if Dirac takes care of delay too, but I am adding a second subwoofer and I hope I can do the delay for the subs (and PEQ, all pre-Dirac) with a MiniDSP 2x4.

Standard Dirac Live does not sort out the time delays required between main speakers and a subwoofer. On my SHD I calculate the required delays based on measurements in REW and then apply these using the miniDSP plugin. Dirac Live treats each main speaker and associated subwoofer contribution as if it were one single loudspeaker.

In my system my subwoofer is further away than my main speakers and so it it the signal to the main speakers that is delayed, not the subwoofer signal. This is probably the most common situation.

As you mentioned a miniDSP 2x4 note that this is much less capable than a 2x4 HD. Of particular relevance here is that the maximum time delay on the 2x4 is much shorter than the 2x4 HD and depending on your exact setup this may prevent you doing what you'd like.

True, I got it the other way around. I could still pass the main outputs to the MiniDSP. Then I could do the crossover there instead of the NAD and add the delay to the mains. That would diminish the NAD's DAC performance, so not really desirable.

On second thought, I hope that I can correct the overlap (in amplitude) between mains and sub by Dirac, If I adjust the phase of the subs by hand beforehand. Then no miniDSP would be required.

Thanks, yes I realised that, I just hoped I could reuse an old miniDSP I have.
