Prior to getting the Dirac DDRC-22D, I have used a MacBook Pro connected via USB to the PS Audio Direct Stream DAC to listen. Now with the DDRC-22D, I added an XLR from the DDRCs output to the XLR input on the Direct Stream DAC. I used the USB in the DDRC's USB connector to setup the file and save it to the DDRC-22. So, now that I've programmed the DDRC-22, how do I get my MacBook Pro to "see" the DDRC to output the sound to it???? I'm sure I could reconnect the USB to the Direct Stream DAC, but wouldn't that eliminate the DDRC from the chain? Am I explaining this well???

Thanks
Paul

The DDRC-22D does not have a USB audio input. What generation is your MacBook Pro? If it is a 2015 or older then it has a mini-TOSLINK digital output which you can use to send a digital signal to the DDRC. If it is newer you will need to get a USB sound card.

hello Michael,
Thanks for the reply. I have a new 16” MBP with 4 USB-C and a mini headphone connector (not optical like previous MBPs had).

I think I bought the wrong miniDSP unit. I hope they’ll accept this week old DDRC-22d in exhange for the more expensive SHD Studio....

Hi Michael

Sorry i have only just seen this so hope you have not returned your DDRC 22D yet . All you need is a USB to SPDIF convertor box which are similar the one listed below . Apologies I do not know which country you are in so this is a link to UK Amazon as I am in the UK .

This will connect to the USB socket on your MAC you can then send the Audio via this device and connect either the Toslink or Coaxial to your DDRC-22D and then connect the DDRC to your DAC . Sound when I have used one (from a Streamer player to a DAC) has always been fine . Hope this can save you additional spending on an SHD model .
