Hello everyone,

I have a DDRC-24 and an integrated amp (which is a Roksan K3).

My integrated could be used as PRE, connecting the DDRC-24 via RCA to an input (CD, AUX, etc.) or it has the BY-PASS function (usually used for Home Theater setups) which BY-PASS the PRE section of the amplifier.

Actually, my DDRC-24 is connected to a standard input of the amp, via RCA. The volume is fixed (I never touch it), and I use the remote of my amplifier.

Question:

My amp own a BY-PASS function and the DDRC-24 has is own remote for the volume.

What is the most "clean" and "best" way to use the DDRC-24?

Via RCA to an input of the amp (as I use now) or to the BY-PASS IN of my amplifier, and using then the volume of the DDRC-24 instead that the volume of the amp?

Hope I was clear, thank you.

I'd argue the cleanest signal path is to bypass the pre-amp stage on your integrated amplifier, although ultimately you could just compare the two and see which you prefer. The significant practical downside of bypassing the pre-amp that you may not like though is that the DDCR24 has no volume indicator. I used a 2x4 HD in this fashion for the best part of a year and it wasn't ideal and I'm much happier with my SHD in no significant part because it has a screen!

When you would need to bypass the pre-amp section of your integrated amp is if you ever wanted to use your miniDSP to integrate a subwoofer, which is for me a standout feature of miniDSP's products.

I have a DDRC 24 in an active system and use the outputs from the DDRC directly to the two stereo power amplifiers and then use the DDRC 24 as Digital Crossover / DAC / Volume Control and have found that this gives me the best sound quality .
