Hi all,
I use the ddrc24 with toslink input from a streamer.
In the minidsp software all sliders ( Dirac inputs 1 & 2, outputs 1-4 and master volume ) are set to 0 dB.

When playing music I can see the input and output meters measuring the same values. Music generally plays at around -12dB increasing to a max of about 0dB.

Presume I can leave things set as they are and not worry about clipping.

Thanks.

Sadly not. I'd set the master volume to -10 dB as a maximum, and -15 dB would be safer.

Really? Ok. I’ll do that but means I’ll be turning the volume up on my integrated a fair bit to compensate.

There have been a few threads on this. Here's one:

So we all have tracks we know well.

After Dirac I listened to a few of these tracks and generally noticed an improvement. I got to the Verve’s “One day” and noticed a bit of... harshness, grittiness, crackliness to some of the vocals.

The point I notice this first is on the ‘f’ of “fiery skies”. Dropping the master volume by -10dB it gone. I’ve listened with and without and it’s a definite difference.

Seems like miniDSP should drop the dBs by default. Thanks for the recommendation.
