Hi,

Dirac 3 is out but in the download section of the DDRC-24 I still find only "Software for the DDRC-24 series with Dirac 2.0 support".

I have to stick to Dirac 2 then?

Thank you

I would also be interested to learn about the new bass management featured in the new Dirac 3.0. I am interested in hooking L R channel + two subwoofers using dirac's crossover (and compare to that of minidsp's).

This thread from the SHD section may be of some interest:

Maybe so it should work.

I wonder: when the firmware will be "officially" updated?

The bass management for subwoofer addition to 2 channel setup could be a huge feature (more than dirac live itself).
The market for small/budget stereo audiophiles is growing, and DDRC-24 being the lowest cost dirac processor, it could be a must have DAC/DSP for people wanting to add subwoofer and not ruin the bass in a small room.
If it's technically possible, please consider developing the upgrade for DDRC-24.
$550 was still a bit pricy investment for hardware that was essentially a 2x4HD + calibration mic, but this upgrade would definitely make up its value via software.

Just wondering if you are expecting DLBC to be a free upgrade on the 2x4 HD? On the Dirac Live website it costs $349 for a single sub and $499 for multiple subs.

Yeah, Dirac charges a bit more I guess. DLBC is currently for $1000+ units anyway, so that target market is pretty limited. I'd say if miniDSP can support it, they should consider doing it at lower price for reaching more people who would not have considered dirac option into buying their products. I like how miniDSP is experimenting/expanding Dirac for headphones audiophiles too, so just thought that they could go back to their root of small/medium stereo bookshelf + receiver setup easily integrating subwoofer(s).
Maybe Dolby Atmos and multichannel is the future, but most people still settle with soundbar or stereo + dac.

But still, here:

www.minidsp.com/userdownloads/dirac-series/ddrc-24-software

I don't see the DDRC-24 supports for Dirac 3.0.

While the firmware may not hae been updated I have used the Dirac 3 software with both a DDRC 24 and a DDRC 22D and they seem to work without any issues I have recently due toi equipment changes and speaker placement changes had to run a number of Dirac sessions and have had no problems . I am sure that an update of either software /firmware or both to utilise Dirac 3 will be dealt with but it is certainly quite possible to use Dirac 3 as it is now .

I've done about 5 sets of measurements with ddrc24 and Dirac 3. It did crash once on my last measurement and even though it auto saved after each point...I lost all but 3 points and had to do the rest over again. Now I manualy save more often. B)

Turned out good though.

Hi DSPmike,

How many subwoofers are connected to your ddrc 24? Does Dirac 3 manages these multiple subs separately?

Thanks!

This is an old thread but it is close to my question. In the current DDRC-24 User Manual, it refers to "Navigate to the Dirac Series section and then to DDRC-24 Software. Download the zip file under the heading DDRC-24 software for Dirac 2.0". However, in general, DDRC-24 supports Dirac Live 3.x. This is confusing. Does DDRC-24 supports Dirac Live 3.x? Or, maybe the DDRC-24 firmware for Dirac 3.x and Dirac 2.x is the same? Only the Dirac designer that's outside of the hardware is updated to 3.x? In general, just want to know if DDRC-24 supports the fully capability of Dirac 3.x (at the sampling rate of 48kHz).
