Through the Dirac website I recently found out that there is a new software version including a VST-Plugin with lower latency (10ms) than previous versions. They even think about adding a switch with a slightly compromised (sound wise) version with even lower latency.

Finally, this is starting to make sense to me, as I need low latency for playing live VST instruments.

On the other hand, if there is a quick way of switching between passthrough (no latency) and DIRAC (small latency as the plugin), I would still prefer to have that in hardware ... is the DDRC-88D going to support version 3? Or are there other hardware solutions planned that might support it?

I don't know about the DDRC-88D but on my SHD (with Dirac 2) I downloaded Dirac 3.0 and it works just fine without any new firmware.
May work for the DDRC too?

I can also confirm that Dirac 3.0 works without problems for the DDRC-24 minidsp.

Great! Now, it would be interesting to know, if that is also the case for the DDRC-88D (which is probably the case). But it would also be important to me, if the improvements regarding latency equally apply to the hardware (10ms) and if there is a switch to quickly bypass the AES signal on thru-mode without any additional latency.
Maybe someone owning the DDRC-88D or someone from staff could chime in.

For surround environments, Dirac 2.0 has not been supported yet, so 3.0 is not yet.

I am waiting for support of 2.0 before I buy 88D.
Good news is 2.0 is being tested now for 88A.

It may take time, but I hope 3.0 will be supported in the future.

Ooh! That is quick, considering the recent post that not even 2.0 would be supported! I am actually confused now and hope the miniDSP team might see this post and make everything clear.

If that is the case or any owner of the 88D can help, I have these questions:

1) Is Dirac 3.0 supported for the 88D as well?

2) What is the exact latency for the 88D and has it an alternate lower latency mode as the Dirac plugin does (see my initial question)?

3) Is it possible to bypass the processing and set the AES on thru for NO additional latency? If that is the case, will that work quickly, e.g. with a remote?

Thanks!

I can confirm Dirac 3 works flawlessly with the DDRC88A+BM on MacOS Catalina.

Dirac 3 is listed as supported for the DDRC88D here www.minidsp.com/products/dirac-series/ddrc-88d. As the 88A and 88D share the same software download I assume the setup is pretty similar.

The new integration of miniDSP with Dirac Live is genious, any future Dirac Live update should work out of the box unless they change a lot on the side of Dirac Live (which is unlikely as focus is now on Dirac Unison I presume)

Im very interested in getting a ddrc 88A but it would be extremely important, to be able to use the new Dirac 3 bassmanagment feature. Is it possible or does the ddrc need a update for this feature?

Hello, does the Mindsp Nano AVR DL works with Dirac 3 ?
