All. Scanned the manual and not sure that this is possible. Considering the SHD (use the DDRC24 presently), but would be used by wife and kids as well and concerned that without a volume limit, it can be tough for young family to realise what volumes levels are all the time when switching sources etc perhaps leave the vol too high or run it up when a source issue occurs.
Presently use a Rotel 1070 preamp and the volume control has a handy light on it to indicate the level.
May be creating problems that don't exist but anyone else have an SHD that is used by young kids (5 plus) , family and can comment would be appreciated.
Cheers

You're brave :) I once let a teenager (not mine!) play some records and he managed to burn out the bass units of my Kef Concertos and bend a stylus. Took him about an hour. Nobody has ever touched my hi fi since. If you could lock down the volume, maybe, but it would have to be 100% foolproof. Kids (and most animals) learn by pushing envelopes and seeing if it hurts.

I generally don't let other adults touch my hifi, let alone small children!

Some protection can be achieved by setting input or output attenuation within the SHD plugin, which would effectively limit the maximum volume that can be set. Any such limits are linked to presets rather than source selection though.
