'm trying to decide which route to take.

Planning to incorporate this into a balanced mono block configuration using two Schiit Vidar amps and the Schiit Freya + pre. Since its going to be a balanced rig with XLR cables, i'm wondering if I should do the 22D (with XLR ins/outs) to keep things consistent.

I use my Macbook for streaming/files and am running a Schiit Modi 3 DAC.

Q is whether the MiniDSP replaces my DAC, or if i'd need to go macbook straight to 22D? And if I go that route, what adaptor(s) do I used to connect the 22D to the Macbook Pro?

The DDRC-22D is digital in-out. You may want to look at the SHD?

I just got the same recommendation over on reddit.

Main reason for going with the Freya+ is that extra tube stage that everyone is raving about.

I already have a Schiit Modi 3, but the SHD covers that base.

That said do I still need a DAC with the DDRC-24?

I'll be using this gear to drive my Spatial Audio M3 Triode Master speakers.

If you're connecting the Mac via USB, no, it acts like a USB DAC but with DSP/Dirac Live and four output channels.

However it's not balanced output (then again, the Modi isn't either AFAICT).

Bear in mind that if you add a sub or subs via the additional outputs on the DDRC-24, you have to do the volume control in the DDRC, you won't be able to do it with the preamp.

Hi,

I own a DDRC-24, I did not understand what you explained above.

If I add two subs (I actually don't have subs) to the port 3 and 4 of the DRC, why I cannot use the volume of my regular amp?

My setup is DDRC-24->Port 1L+2R>Amplifier

I leave the volume of the DSP at "-10dB" and use the volume of my amp.

Thanks

Hi, because adjusting the volume at the amp will change the volume of your speakers, but will not change the volume of your subs.

So someone with an integrated amp like me should fix the volume of the amp (guess at 9'o clock for istance) and then use the dsp remote?

Or I should connect the subs to the preout of the amp…

Or again, maybe I shoud connect the dsp to the MAIN IN of my amp?
