Oh, that's a shame. Why do they implement such an error?

Possibly I should think about another DSP hardware platform.

Sorry, I don't really understand you. Why shouldn't DLBC be able to perform bass measurement output just to the output 3/4 of SHD or DDRC-24? Are the channels 3/4 physically attached as a simple copy of outputs 1/2 inside SHD or DDRC-24?

The answer to the question in bold is no. What is sent to each output is fully configurable by the miniDSP plugins.

The issue here is the distinction between the Dirac Live software (not produced by miniDSP) and the plugins for the specific hardware (which are produced by miniDSP). The former is standardly designed to use a different audio channel for the sub (bass control) channel but the SHD and DDRC-24 aren't obviously set up to recieve this (being 2 input not 3). You can technically handle this by changing the signal routing between measurements so that an input is, say, for the left main speaker on one measurement but the subwoofer on another, but doing so requires changes in the plugin rather than something the Dirac Live software could do.

So from the hardware side DLBC on DDRC-24 or SHD should be possible, it's just a software problem? An easy fix IMHO.

Er, not just software and not so easy I think .

As Ultrasonic notes in post #48488 above, only by re-routing signals which is likely to be a kludge.

Of course clarification/thoughts, even if disappointing, from MiniDSP themselves would be great here . . . anyone listening???

Certainly not trivial and would actually require changes to both Dirac software and the DDRC/SHD plugin, but not impossible.

For a 2 sub setup, the signal routing during measurements would need to be L, R, L1->>O3, R1->O4, where L1, R1 are subwoofer signals and O3,4 are outputs 3 and 4.

Dirac software would need to send indicators for L1 and R1 signals, and the MiniDSP plugin/firmware would need to switch routing accordingly

That said, it would open up a significant market opportunity and create a leg up on the competition, without having to introduce a whole new product line just for DLBC

Far from trivial sadly I'd say since it relies on two different bits of software written by different companies, which don't normally interact in the way that would be required.

Another quest would be if DLBM can be integrated in the 88A/BM. It has enough channels to spare. With a 5.1 Setup you could use 3 Subs and with a 7.1 Setup you could still use the lowest teir of DLBM.

I started using Dirac 3.0 on the DDRC-88s 12v variant, the CDSP 8x12DL. It seems the groundwork is laid for possible upgrade to DLBC on these multichannel units. There is an extra step to identify the speaker type on each Dirac channel. And a note that reads:
"The speaker type is currently provided for user information only. It affects items such as the icons displayed for each channel in the DiracLive app. However, it’s still recommended that this be set correctly for your system in order to allow for future enhancements. "

I'm hoping that MiniDSP decides to at least offer DLBC as an additional cost upgrade in the future.

I have a Monolith Htp 1 with DLBC. I have been very impressed with the result! I am about to buy the SHD. Hoping for this to be implemented. I would not mind the added cost because it really works.
