I hope that you would design a new product that is an improved version of the MiniDSP DDRC-24 with Dirac Live. The design should focus primarily on improving AD/DA conversion and an additional active crossover capability to both bi-amp and tri-amp speakers.
It could have options and specifications like the MiniDSP DDRC-22:
• 24bit 96Khz resolution
• Digital inputs and outputs
• Balanced inputs and outputs
• unbalanced inputs and outputs
The reason I believe this would be a great product is because many of us own speakers that can be bi-amplified and even tri-amplified. It could still have the capability to incorporate subwoofers and address the DIY speaker builder. Dirac Live makes the setup process easier, efficient, more accurate, and less time- consuming.
This product would be a natural evolution of the DDRC-24 and address a product need for MiniDSP.

Aaron, I’m with you. I like products to be future proof / offer me the next upgrade route without restricting me to a particular brand.

At the moment I’m struggling to choose the right DL product for me because there is no product that offers digital I/O AND more than 4 analogue output channels.

I don’t need the extra analogue outs now but I would like to keep my sub and bi-amp my speakers in the future.

My must have list is simpler...
Dirac
Digital I/O
6 minimum analogue outs

I wouldn’t specify the DAC as I’m sure MiniDSP wouldn’t let us down and the analogue I/O being balanced and the digital I/O being SPDIF are nice to haves.

The OP wanted something that allows tri-amping and active crossovers. How would you go about that with an SHD? Don’t you need 6 analogue outs with the ability to set crossovers on each?

I think there are a few options that I can see. (I’m also interested in bi-amping with active crossovers + having a sub and Dirac).

1. SHD Studio plus Open DRC-DA8
2. SHD Studio plus C-DSP 6x8
3. C-DSP 8x12 DL

If you want Dirac and aren’t necessarily ready for active bi/tri-amped speaker’s yet (that’s the case with me) my options are as above but with an SHD so I have analogue out for 2.1 with DL and later bolt on another product. Alternatively I could just buy the one product from the start without need for future upgrade, that’s the C-DSP 8x12 DL but because it’s designed for a car, I don’t know what the functionality will be like in home use.
