Hi. First time poster.

I am trying to set up Dirac Live with the DDRC-88a for my 7.1 home theatre. I use an Oppo bdp-105 blu-ray player as both the source and the surround processor and preamp, with separate amps to power each channel and an active subwoofer. After running calibration with the MiniDSP Dirac Live 1 software, I get output from all the speakers but very, very low output from the sub. It’s basically inaudible but I can feel the driver move with my hand, when I play a blu ray, in sync with booms on the movie soundtrack, as long as I turn up the volume on the blu ray player and the volume on the sub to max. (I turn the other speakers off or I would be deafened). I can’t manage to get the sub output any higher. The other speakers are set to small on the Oppo.

I’ve read that the Oppo may output from its LFE channel at 15db below what’s necessary but I’ve increased the subwoofer trim on the Oppo by 10db and increased the volume on the sub to little effect.

If I bypass the DDRC-88a by plugging the LFE output directly from the Oppo to the sub, the output is plenty loud. In addition, when I do the Dirac Live calibration, I get output from the sub no problem with calibration sweeps activating the sub at what seem to be reasonable volumes.

Does anyone have any experience that may help me understand where I’m going wrong?

Many thanks,
Tony
