I am having a little bit of a frustrating time getting things set up with my DDRC 22D . I can now get a full Dirac Session to run without too much and the software seems to have learned that due to losing a whole session once I now save the project after each measurement . The software has now started doing this automatically for me which is great .

My problem is that the Dirac Software is setting the bass and treble responses far too narrow . It is cutting off at about 40HZ for bass and 1/2 KHZ for treble which is far too excessive . I have been able to extend the bass but it will not let me extend the treble in the same way .

Is this linked to the original setting on the DDRC 22 APP ? If you let it use the default -10db setting is this limiting the treble ? If so should you set this at 0db for a Dirac session then alter it afterwards to give you a little head room ? Any advice would be appreciated.

When you say "the Dirac Software is setting the bass and treble responses far too narrow" are you referring to the frequency range bars? Are you not able to move them? (Sorry just guessing, screenshot would help :) )

Does the measured response look like it's falling off rapidly above 2 kHz or does it look more sensible? You probably won't have been as stupid as me but I did once make a measurement using my laptop's microphone by mistake rather than my UMIK-1 and that had a stupidly rolled off top end. After a brief worry a tweeter had failed I realised what I had done!

Thanks for both your input the issue is that yes i can move the bass cut off zones back but I have not been able to move the treble cut off zone at all . Do not seem to know why this should be .

Going to do a full factory reset on the DDRC 22D later today and start from scratch . Whatever I do seems to play some tracks really well then along will come a track and either the high treble or the bass will distort then the next track will be fine . Not sure waht is doing this but if in doubt be consistent and do it all again paying close attention to each stage .

I'm going to guess I know you from another forum here and ask if you've only seen this problem after switching to Dirac v 2.5.2?

Hi Martin

No it has started in fact since I switched to 2.4 and seems to have carried on through the latest update. Today I decided to start from best principles . First all software fr DDRC 22 and Dirac Live was deleted from my system PC along with firmware and the downloads .

New downloads were completed and installed . DDRC 22 was reset to factory defaults wiping all filters loaded and new firmware from a new download was completed.

Only after all of this did i fire up Dirac Live 2 and see if I could get it to complete a session . As advised above made sure that I only used the UMIK 1 as the microphone . I then did three sessions one after the other for Chair , Sofa Tight Focus and Sofa Wide Focus . All saved after each measurement and careful placement made so that each was the same distance apart left and right and also front to back. Managed all of these and was able to adjust the cutoffs advised by Dirac to a more sensible range again very careful at the extremes to make my curve be as close the recorded line as possible so as not to ask the amp to try and fill any below the line dips . Loaded all three filters in to 1 2 and 3 slots on DDRC 22 and have now just put on Radio 6 Music and things are very much improved . All of the previous edginess has gone and the blance and image has come back . Music sounds much better. Not sure what if any of the above has resulted in this much improved performance but frankly not that bothered either . When i get a chance can cycle through the different filters and see if i prefer one over the other. Thanks for the help and suggestions they were taken in to account and noted to get things back to how they should be.
