Hi, I am using Minidsp 4/10HD for electronic crossover and correction/alignment of drivers.
4/10 HD is taking an AES/EBU input signal and then is converting to analogue and sending output to amplifiers.
Is it possible to install before the 4/10HD a DDRC22D for performing room correction while using the 4/10HD as an electronic crossover and driver correction/alignment?
Thanks in advance

Yes it it is.

You should thake care that your crossover is not implementing a phase error.

If I understand well, if I will be using LR-4 filters for the crossover, they will not introduce any phase shift so the system could be used?
All the drivers-room interaction corrections will be in that case left to the DDRC22D, while the Minidsp 4/10 will only provide time alignment of drivers and crossover.
Am I right?

Hi,

Don’t forget the individual driver phase shift.

However the best way to do it.
1 Set the crossover (4x10)
2 measure the phase shift for both driver (REW)
3 atjust the time mismatch (4x10)
4 run Dirac

Also with liniear phase crossover you will never have 100% the same phase of two different driver.

Best regards

I am setting up a three way system.
So I will have to check phase shift at woofers to midranges and midranges to tweeter, correct?
What should I do with the value of the phase shift I get from REW at the two Xover points? Use time delay to compensate for it?
In any case since Dirac is made to work with conventional passive crossover, I think their phase shifts are much more relevant than those generated by an active crossover.
Any other tricks to take into consideration?
Thanks for your help.

I have 4x10 and very much like it. Source is an optical output cd player. Speakers are 3 way and tri-amped.
I am considering the dirac live 22D in line between cd player and 4x10.
How complex is it to set up and test, and is there a big difference in sound?
