I've just installed shd and Dirac live 2 latest version. I can't get past the volume calibration. The software constantly fails. It loses connection to shd, then intermittently gives TLS errors, then says error saving measurement. Basically I've wasted 3 hrs just trying to calibrate the volume and I can't get past this point as the software is so buggy. I don't know how others are managing to use it at all. I'll be returning my.mini shd studio unit as it's unuseable with this software.

Are you using a long USB cable to connect your computer to SHD?

I tried using a 5 metre USB cable and found that connection to SHD was intermittent. Using a shorter (2m) cable I don't have any problems.

Hi!

I am Using SHD / Dirac 2.0.
I need a piece of advise regarding measurement points. for "Sofa focused" and "Sofa Wide Imaging" arrangments.

My speakers are about 1.5 m apart and my listening position is about 2.3 m from the speakers.
1. "Sofa focused" arrangement. The manual says that I should "spread measurement positions over the full width of the sofa". Well, my sofa is longer than the distance between the speakers. Is it OK that outer measurement positions are situated outside the projections of speaker boundaries?
2. I guess given my speaker and listener locations I should not bother at all with the "Sofa - Wide Imaging" arrangement. Or?

Any advise will be very much appreciated.

Regards, Anton

1 - Yes, it's OK, I'm confident you'll hear sound from both speakers at all points on your sofa :)

2 - Your speaker locations don't matter. What does is where are you are worried about sound quality. The Sofa - Wide Imaging arrangement is intended to be used for situations where you're trying to improve the sound for people sitting anywhere on the sofa. Note that you could use different measurement arrangements for different presets, so you could have a different one aimed more at solo listening at the sweetspot.
