Greetings,

I'm new to miniDSP and am seeking advice. My home theater system consists of several home made speakers. I had been using two Xilica XP4080 units to do the crossovers and equalization. One of the Xilica units just died and I'd like to replace it with a 10x10 HD. While I'm at it, I was also thinking of getting the nanoAVR DL.

I have a macbook pro running Mojave 10.14.5. I am pretty sure the Mojave will work fine with the 10x10 HD and the nanoAVR DL, but there are two potential issues I wanted to ask about regarding the nanoAVR DL:

1) I'm currently using a Roku Ultra which will not provide 7.1 LPCM to the nanoAVR DL. I wouldn't mind buying a playstation 3 to replace the Roku. I believe this should provide the required 7.1 LPCM and should play well with the nanoAVR DL. Does this sound reasonable (also, are there alternatives to playstation 3 that would work)?

2) I live in a rural area and cannot get high speed internet. The best I can get is about 5mbps. This sometimes results in poor video resolution, but the audio seems unaffected. Will this slow internet speed cause problems for the nanoAVR DL, or should the audio portion be okay?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi, until a few years ago I was on 3Mbps and didn't have audio dropouts (except when the whole thing went down). But I suspect it depends mostly on factors such as the (media) provider and maybe the decoding hardware/software, not really the nanoAVR. With Netflix I assume it just compresses more and more, but still decodes to LPCM.

I don't know anything about the playstation.

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. I mainly wanted to be sure a slow internet would not annoy the nanoAVR and from what you said, it appears the nanoAVR won't mind.
