Did you also open a support ticket? Hopefully with both of us having a ticket open it will get a relatively quick fix.

Yes, I did. I also attached my config. MiniDSP fixed plugin bugs I reported very quickly (12 hours), but who knows how things go with the Dirac software. They may not have full access to it.

Just received a fix file for the Dirac bug, it's a new firmware for the C-DSP. Did a quick 1 point Dirac run and now it seems to work correctly.

Got the same fix a well, hoping to get it installed and test it later this morning. Sounds like it should be good to go though.

With just one point quick Dirac run (with the default curve) I'm already hearing the same Dirac magic that I get from my home system :)

Stable center image, music's spatial and echo effects are much stronger, phase error type sounds (reflections) are gone and replaced with smooth sounds. Big difference to a preset where I have only time adjusted the system.

Awesome. I have a couple meetings at work this morning, but now you have me hoping to get to the garage and try an initial set up.

When you take the measurements, are you sitting in the car holding the microphone? Or using a tripod or something similar to position the mic?

That is a good question that I've been also wondering. During the first run I was not sitting in the car. I received a mic holder with my C-DSP, I think it attaches to head rest supports. But I think we should sit inside the car during the measurements, there are more reflections when you are not there. I think I will test both ways with otherwise identical setup.

Also mic positioning, user manual says to point it up. But I read some manufacturer's DSP (no Dirac) adjustment guide and it said to point the mic down. And then there was another guide that says to point the mic to the windscreen (when measuring with REW).

I am going to try taking measurements while sitting in the car, that is how I typically have always done so when using REW. It should also make getting the microphone positions a little easier, I had used a camera tripod which while does work reasonably well, it's also tough getting the microphone into position.

Edit: Installed the bug fix and everything looks to be good now. As soon as I get done working today going to try and get a listen to some Dirac magic.

Edit 2: Just got done with my first set of measurements, all working correctly. Dirac on / off makes a noticeable difference. I need to play with microphone positioning though, for me with Dirac on while the center and stage height improves, with Dirac off I get better stage width. I also have more volume with Dirac off, but that is due to me pulling the target down below some of the bigger dips in my response.

I want to go do another set of measurements, but dang, it is hot in the garage.

I always do. I want my body to be there to absorb and for it to correct for it.

I’ve done it with and without, it’s better with in my humble opinion. But I encourage you alls to try it a few different ways . Learn how and where the mic positions sound good etc , having the 1st measurement a little in front of you so it adds more delay ( if you push the mic about 10” in front of you it makes the path length difference more, the farther back makes it less. ).

I also do the box like “chair” has on my left side and the sofa on my right side using sofa So the right side measurements have 2 in the middle of passenger seat. I get much better results that way. But try what works good for you.

Good to hear.

Good man on target below dips. It will make it much smoother. Let us know how it goes

Having fun with this now, microphone placement is very important!! But, it's so quick to get a tune it's crazy. This took all of 10 minutes, no TA or EQ, let Dirac do everything (subwoofer was not included in the sweeps, so ignore that)...

I'm lacking a little width than what I'm used to, but willing to bet I can get that back with different microphone locations. Overall though, very happy so far.

I have a some questions though.

1 - is it possible to lower the entire target curve at once? Rather than dragging down each point. I have a target with many points, clicking each and dragging then down while trying to maintain the curve is difficult.

2 - how do I delete points on the target curve? Maybe I missed that in the manual, but I can't figure out how to delete them. - found this in the manual, double click the point you want to remove.

3 - is it possible to load a saved preset from an 8x12 to an 8x12DL? Guessing no due to the way the routing is set, but curious if it's possible.

I'm loving the feedback. I have yet to buy the DL plugin but it's on the list. I'm not sure that you have any inclination for a 2-seat preset, but I'm curious how effective sofa mode is at creating a 2-seat tune. Heck, I'm also curious if auditorium mode can do an acceptable 4-seat tune. If no one else tries it I'll end up figuring it out myself eventually.

Happy to post up my thoughts, I may try a 2 seat tune just for the heck of it once I get my main tune completed. It's so quick to set one up, you could set up a 1, 2 and 4 seat tune with this in half the time it takes to set up a single tune manually.

Yeah it works fair to fair, the 1st measurement is the timing reference no matter what, put the mic in middle of car and nobody gets a sweet spot.

The sofa features will make the response good for both seats just not imaging. Having very low path length differences.

So how to do that is put the mic in middle of car and far back for 1st measurement, (like right behind the front seats far back) than do the rest of the sofa than put a 2nd order all pass filter with a Q of 1 at 250hz after Dirac measurement and both listeners have to lean into the middle to get a imaging
