Just got my DRC-88A-BM wired up yesterday. I've got two sets of powered monitors connected balanced via the phoenix connectors to outputs 1&2 (Neumann KH120A's), and 3&4 (ATC SCM50-ASL's). Did my first run through the Dirac calibration process this evening and during the sweeps it seemed that both right speakers had distortion overtones, whereas the left speakers were clean. My setup has config 1 as just the KH120's active, and config 2 as just the SCM50's active (i.e. not surround).

I assume its not input level going to the device as I would imagine that the test tones are generated from within the DRC-88A itself. I had set the reference level for 72 dBA SPL; and I know these speakers have no issues driving well above that level.

Any ideas as to what might be going on? Could this be a faulty unit? I might try wiring up the right channels to different outputs, but it's a bit of a pain...some suggestions would be nice.

Thanks!

Looks like I can't fault the DDRC-88A-BM....I just moved the cables over to the left ATC, and the distortion is gone. Haven't tried the KH120's yet, but I'm suspecting the results will be similar (noticed less distortion on them during sweeps). It doesn't look that bad when measured in REW, but was audible to me on the pure sweep tones. Maybe I've got some internal resonances, or a problem with one of my amplifiers in my speakers. Damn! I was hoping it would be something easy, like a bad cable.

Cheers

Kris
