hello

a question for the specialist of DDRC88BM

why not put the BM after the dirac?
the dirac does not account for the BM and the target curves are not representative in the area before the crossover

is there a possibility by upgrade software to manage the BM after the dirac and thus make the measurements with our final configuration? we could ask a minidsp for that not?

otherwise a person would have tried to do the measurements with a pc and trial version of dirac with the bm done in the BM plugin and export the result in the ddrc? could this be suitable?

regards

This has been debated forever. You can do this but there are some caveats:

1) level balance your sub and mains in the AVR or pre/pro AFTER the DL unit.
2) delay balance your sub and mains in the AVR or pre/pro AFTER the DL unit.

Basically, if you do this you are no longer optimizing for one speaker but for a set of speakers because bass will be routed to the sub. You want them to appear to be the same distance and level from the first measurement point.

The advantage is that DL can correct for the BM crossover.

The disadvantage is that you can't do any mixing of signals post-DL that depends on phasing (phantom center, Dolby Pro Logic, etc.)

Dirac recommends against mixing of signals after DL, but in certain cases, it has been observed to be acceptable. It's just one set of trade offs vs. another.
