Hello!

I want to try a miniDSP solution with DIRAC Live: DDRC-22D, DDRC-22DA or DDRC-24

My stereo setup: 2 or 3 Sources (1or 2x Toslink, 1x SPDIF coax) -> DAC/Preamp -> Amp -> Speakers

What's the technical difference between the DDRC-22 and DDRC-24 ?
Should I prefer using a DDRC-22 between the sources and the DAC/Preamp(DDRC-22D would be the choice !?) or between DAC/Preamp and the amplifier by XLR (DDRC-22DA would be the choice)?

Do I have any sound improvement with the DDRC-22 devices in comparison to a DDRC-24 with Cinch/RCA between DAC/Preamp and amplifier?

Thank you for your answers!!

@Korealis

Thanks for your interest in our products.
The DDRC-22DA is now End of Life (no more stock) so the DDRC-22D or DDRC_24 would be a better fit here.
- Putting the DDRC-22D between your digital source and preamp/DAC might be the easiest here. Just do source selection there and just keep using your DAC/Preamp sound you're used to.. :-)
- As for the difference between the DDRC-24 (48k DSP rate, analog IO, USB I/O) vs DDRC-22 (96k sample rate, only Digital IO), it all depends on your connectivity.

An alternative (newer platform) would be the SHD Studio. Please check out our user product page with manual for more details.

It's not yet out but expected sometime in September.

Thank you!

What would you prefer in my situation?

I expect better performance by DDRC-22D, but I would need to do the source selection by miniDSP.
Can I do volume selection with the DDRC-22D remote, too? Is the remote made of metal or plastic?

DDRC-24 would be easier to integrate in my setup, but I think that there will be some loss of sound performance , for example by the sample rate and the additional AD and DA conversion.

Thank you!

Same question as with Koreolis

Will the quality affected if I use DDRC-24? As it involved Analog to Digital and then Digital to Analog again. Seems there will be inevitable loss and distortion.

Thanks!

The remote is plastic.

The simple solution is to get the SHD and remove the unnecessary DAC/preamp :)
