I have two systems :
2-Channel System : Oppo 103 --(coaxial)--> DAC --(RCA)--> 2-channel Amp --> 2-channel speaker
5.1 System : Oppo 103 --(HDMI) --> 5.1 AV Amp --> 5 satellite speakers + Subwoofer

Thinking :-
2-Channel System : Add 22D between Oppo 103 and DAC. Using coaxial in and coaxial out. Is it OK?
5.1 System : Add 22D between Oppo 103 and 5.1 AV Amp. Using Optical in and Optical out. Is it OK as there's no HDMI?

Will you recommend 22D or other suitable solutions? Solution with less budget? Solution with better sound?

Thanks!

@ Zealous Fu

As a starting point, before going any further , please give us a hand by having a quick read at this link

As you can see, SPDIF is not always multichannel. You would then understand that the 5.1 setup won't work for that reason. Making sense?

As for the 2ch, yet, that's indeed the right way to do so! The DDRC-22D will be the perfect fit for this application.

Thank you very much.

Know that it can apply to my 2 channel but not 5.1.

Is there a model or solution that I can use to apply both 2 channel and 5.1?

Thanks!

Hi! I have a situation similar to Zealous_fu. I use an Oppo UDP-205 to play both stereo and multichannel discs. Iwas wonderind if it is suitable for me to use a nanoAVR DL putting in it the HDMI out of the Oppo, both for stereo and multichannel playback. In case of yes, I was also wondering if Oppo players are able to manage both the HDMI output and input to work simultaneausly as a player and DAC.. :dry:

@Zealous_fu

From reading the faq, you can now understand hopefully the difference between encoded and PCM.
Unfortunately none of our products have a Dolby decoder to support 5.1/7.1 encoded Dolby format. You need an AVR for this application.

in answer to this question, no you can't use the Oppo to do loopback.. It won't work this way I'm afraid..
You're using the analog out to external amps? Maybe just use the DDRC-88A. That's exactly what it's for. :-)
