Hi, big fan of miniDSP and use a miniDSP 2 x 8 to manage a large 4 way rig for Pro and Domestic use.

Recently purchased a DDRC 22D which should be perfect for Domestic use. The device is second hand, unfortunately for me maybe, but it was priced ok and thought at the time a good pick up.

The PC I use accesses the 2 x 8 well and don't seem to have any issues "accessing the 2 x 8 board" via USB, for configuration of the system.

I have downloaded "DDRC 22" utility tool from the Users section of downloads, unzipped and Run the application and program opens fine with no conflicts with the PC.

Problem is try as I may, cannot seem to "connect to the DDRC 22 board". The unit powers up fine, has LED illumination on the front panel for what preset and input selected. Rear panel there is nothing and I would have fairly well expected the optical laser to come on, like it does in the 2 x 8. Should this come on with unit power up ?

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the DDRC utility. Tried another PC, with same results.

Questions are,
Should the optical laser come on with power up of the DDRC 22D, regardless of the input selected ? (trying to decide if hardware is at fault)


If no, is there a way to reset the board and or, is this looking like a hardware problem as the device is unknown albeit in good condition internally and externally.

As I cannot connect to the device I am unable to do a firmware update either.

Interesting thing is if I open the 2 x 8 software it (the DRC22D) seems to connect ok, obviously no functionality though.

. While in the miniDSP 2x8 plugin, seeing as though I had actually "interfaced with the Dirac 22D, decided to attempt to upload a firmware, and IT WORKED

so, I can now connect the Dirac 22D with DDRC 22 configuration utility.

closed the connection with the utility then tried with Dirac Live configuration tools and in "test signal playback devices" tab DDRC-22 came up.
this gave me a first look at the configuration set up

This series of posts may be helpful if you are unable to interface with a DDRC-22 with the Configuration Utility. What I think may have happened someone may have tried to previously interface with the DDRC 22 with the wrong plugin then corrupted the firmware by trying to synchronize with it .
