Hi everyone
I've recently bought a DDRC 22 and I'm super satisfied with the sound I get from it, but it gets really tricky when I start to work properly.
Here's my setup:
Macbook Pro mid 2012
RME Babyface Pro
DAW: Logic Pro X
I've made an digital insert on the babyface for the ddrc.
I get two different problems from 2 settings:
If I set the clock source to the ddrc, I get cpu overloads really fast, to a point where it gets impossible to work on a session with few plugins.
And I I set the clock source to internal (babyface), it solves my cpu problem, but I get a slight digital distortion, like if I've put a bitcrusher on my master.
I don't really know what to do, can somebody help me?
Thanks a lot.

I suspect that having he Babyface slave to the DDRC clock is the correct solution. So I guess I'd look at the CPU overload issue. It's hard to see how having the Babyface sync to the clock from the DDRC would cause a CPU overload, unless it's simply a problem running the DAW and plugins at 96 kHz?

Maybe it is, I've been proposed to change this model to the one where I don't have to make an insert but instead, go out of the interface in digital, then in the dirac, and out of the dirac in analog, to the speakers, do you think that would solve the problem?
Sorry, I'm not very good at understanding all the things about the digital world...
Thanks a lot.

My guess is it might, if it means running the DAW at 48k (or 44.1) instead of 96k... maybe you have a cheap DAC lying around you can just try that setup with? (Edit: I mean just use an external DAC from the DDRC)
