I am at my wits end. The issue before I explain the setup is that I have no subwoofer output. I also posted on AVSforum but do so here also.

I followed Markus767’s solution from AVSforum for cascading dual DDRC88bm with multi sub in order that all BM is done internally by the dual 88’s in a 7.4.4 system.

Setup
All input and output channels are wired using balanced cable. Unit 1 is setup for all ground level speakers as per kbarnes701’s dual DDRC88 guide except that Ch 3 output is wired to the Ch 3 input on Unit 2 per Markus767’s solution in Jerry’s “a guide to base management using Minidsp DDRC88A BM Plug in”. I also ran the MSO procedure and implemented a 3 sub configuration.
Unit 2 is used for the 4 atmos speakers and all subs. The output channels are setup as follows. I used ch 3 for the iBeams, 6-8 for the subs which is placed per Dr Floyd Toole 3 sub configuration. Channel 1,2,4 and 5 was set for the overhead Atmos speakers. Please see the attachments for a clear layout.

Procedure followed
I entered the MSO gains, delays and the likes into Unit 2 and set the BM per the guide and ran DL on Unit 2 using a custom 5 channel configuration. All subs energized so I assume my mixer setup is correct on Unit 2. Then I set BM on Unit 1 and attempted to run DL. Channel 3 showed an error due to no output and DL would not continue. Tried anything I could think of but without success. So eventually I ran a 7 channel custom setup so I could at least get some decent sound as I was over eager with my new projector arriving. I ignored channel 3 so that the DL measurements would continue. I am thinking that this must be the point where I went wrong but cannot figure out what is wrong with channel 3 not registering white noise for the -12db signal set in DL. Btw I made sure to set channel 3 to LFE not Dirac 3 (on both units) under LFE Management

Then I tested the SSP level before I wanted to align the 2 units per the KBARNES guide (I also inserted a dedicate pre amp between the SSP and Unit 1 thinking that the delay introduced will be resolved by the SSP per the dual integration procedure final step)

This ends up where I started, NO low end. The subs are not getting signal. I originally thought that I wired the sub channel incorrectly but this was not the case.

I managed to run REW for the MSO procedure testing individual and combined subs using an analogue input on channel 1 of Unit 1 and channel 3 on Unit 2. BTW is that correct as I pre wired both units. Should I have rather run REW on one unit which makes sense to me now as the timing reference would be impacted by latency between the units? This is a side issue but I am thinking that my solution at the time was incorrect.

I am lost with no idea what I have done wrong. I tested the wiring again and also ran an analogue signal into channel 3 of unit 1 to check if the BM plug in register signal which it did.

Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

@ MGHT

THanks for the long email explanation. It sounds like an issue of routing but could be very wrong..
Looking at 3 screenshot when there are 100 of settings is a bit hard to guess.. :-)
Please post your XML file (UNIT 1 and UNIT2) along with a little diagram of which source/speaker is wired to what on these 2 units.

@MGHT

Maybe the problem might be simpler than you think... :-)
Did you check the EQ curve that you put inside the UB1 SUB out PEQ section? It looks like this.

Obviously, you're doing circa -30dB (if not more) of attenuation with that very odd eQ... So in the end, you have zero signal with so much attenuation...

I think that your MSO/REW EQ process is the issue here. Bypass the EQ in the DDRC-88BM. Should get your SUB back..

That must be it. I am puzzled why that would be as I cannot recall setting as per your screen shot but did do the imports from MSO but to unit 2. Must have done something wrong somewhere. None the less just very happy that you could assist.

Thank you!

Will give feedback.
