I have a lot of distortion and clipping coming from the device and need to increase volume on preamp quite a bit to get volume to come from the ddrc-24. I'm guessing it happened around the time I upgrade to 1.6 firmware.

Any known issues like this? Device is basically unusable - have switch back to no dsp for the time being.

Dunno, but maybe try reset to defaults and refresh DSP program, then reload the filters. If no luck, open a support ticket with detailed ifno.

Tried reseting and same result.

Is it typical for aprox -20dBFs to show on the input and output channels in the ddrc-24 config tool? Even in default mode and having a source at 100% into the ddrc-24, there is -20dBFs being shown.

That carries over into the dirac config tool and you need to crank up the output gain to overcome it. Could that be where the clipping/distortion is coming from?

I'm not sure I follow... are you saying the meters are showing -20 dB regardless of whether there is audio playing from the source?

If so, you will need to open a support ticket...

Also, perhaps try using the USB input for streaming audio.

@ otherones

A bit confused as to what is going on here, more info would help here.
e.g. how come there is a constant -20dBFS level on input no matter the source... Something doesn't jive here, we're most likely missing some info.. :-)

As John recommended, please start a tech support with our team, share your XML file loaded inside the DDRC-24 plugin + Dirac Live folder. I'm sure that we'll be able to figure out what's going on here knowing we've never heard of this issue before, it's most likely a simple misconfiguration.

Just to update this thread, support team helped me find my user error.

I had connected the wrong power supply and was using a 5V instead of 12V.
