I am trying to fine tune the 9 positions of the Umik microphone when calibrating with Dirac Live. It looks like the chairs/couches pictured in the instructions show different heights for the microphone as well as different positions left ,right, forward and back. On the height issue it looks like some of the positions are in front of the back of the chair? I always thought the microphone should not have any obstructions behind it? I am looking for suggestions on height other than ear height? I notice with experimenting the results seem to be skewed significanlty with different height. If there is another thread with similar information feel free to send a link. Thanks!

Being that it's averaging,
I usually use equal distance between my ears
And have had good luck

There mic positions are recommendations,
You can experiment.

Take into consideration anything that will block the sound like furniture or tables etc

best of luck ;)

I try to keep the same patern but sometime I get better results than others and can not tell if it is the differences in the patern or other reason. My room is smal and the MLP is at 50cm from the back wall . i can not follow the instructions for the chair picture because moving backward the mic closer to the wall should mess the response I think. Trial and error is the way!
