Hi all, I have no experience with miniDSP then what I've read online. I am thinking of purchasing DDRC-24, but not sure if this product is for me. Maybe a regular miniDSP2x4 and manual tuning would be a better choice.

Here is my situation:

I have bookshelf speakers which are connected to the amplifier and would like to augment them with two Rythmik F8 subwoofers.
Would it be possible to use DDRC-24 and its room correction to work only on a specific range i.e. 20Hz-80Hz?
Basically, only the subwoofers will go through miniDSP so I am not sure which approach to take here.

Would this be good starting points?

1. Without dirac engaged try to blend the bookshelf speakers and subwoofers.
2. Once I got the "appropriate" crossover and gain set on the subwoofers start using Dirac to correct lower two octaves by spefcifying the range for correction (if this is possible)
or
3. Once I got the "appropriate" crossover and gain set on the subwoofers, move the crossover point on the subwoofers to the max and then run dirac.

I am not sure the latter would work as the mic would catch what bookshelfs are adding above 80Hz, but won't be able to correct it as the signal for them will not go through it.

Could someone put some light on this, please?

How are you highpassing the bookshelves?

I am not, I will run them full range for now. They roll off rather soon (-3dB @75Hz). I listen to them near filed and not worried about the midrange and upper frequencies, however, I will most likely have issues with the bass in the room so I would like to shape it.

In the mean time I purchased 2x4 kit with the microphone and 2.1 Advanced plugin and will try to do it myself instead of Dirac.

Thanks!!!

@ mirekti,

Sounds great and welcome to the miniDSP community!
Keep us updated how things go for your sub tuning. In the mean time, check out the app note for 2.1 setup (www.minidsp.com/applications/digital-cro...gration-with-minidsp). Though you don't plan to run the bookshelf through the miniDSP, you might notice that doing proper alignment will help.
