Hi all,

I just bought a DDRC-22D. Here's how I intend to connect it.

Digital sources -> DDRC-22D -> DAC -> Preamp -> Poweramp

The idea is to correct all signals before it reaches the DAC.

But....
During the initial stage doing acoustic measurement using Dirac Live Calibration Tool, all equipments downstream of DDRC-22D must be on.
Does that mean that Dirac Live will measure the "sound" of my DAC, and correct it as well?

Please advise.

Thanks
Kent

Hi Kent. Dirac measures the sound of your whole system at the microphone position. The "whole system" includes your DAC, speakers and most importantly your listening room. So the correction includes what comes out the DAC. If there is jitter in your system caused by the DAC (or anything else), Dirac will not correct it. Dirac is all about correcting such issues as in your speaker cabinet there are 2 drivers, these drivers are a few inches apart and without correction the signals arrive at the microphone a millisecond apart from each other when they should arrive at the same time.

Got it! Thanks alot for your clear answer.

Also, do you switch the DDRC-22D off when it's not in use? I don't see a power off button. And is there anyway to dim or switch off the leds if I'm going to leave the unit on?

Hi Kent. I do not own this product. Looking at the manual, I did not see a way to power on/off.
There are products you can buy that allow the DDRC-22D to be powered on/off via a 12 volt trigger from your power amp/etc.

As to leaving it powered on, if you do this make sure your unit is in the open where it can be properly cooled.
