Will the ddrc22D accept a 96k variable optical
Input ?

I just purchased the Dirac unit , haven't got it yet want to make sure all ducks in a row

Thank you ,
Andrew

I plan to have the volume up all the way for normal listening with a low gain structure
But I will need to use the variable optical because it's in car and my source uses variable.
I understand the shortcomings of variable, that's why I intend to have the volume max most of the time, I just want to be sure the signal will read okay.

Cheers

We'd love to answer this but what is a variable optical.. :-)
The unit support TOSLINK. A well known standard for optical audio...

Variable= toslink with volume control embedded into digital audio signal upstream ?

It's probably a stupid question and my apologies
I never used toslink before and just want to make sure I have everything right before I do the install

Thank you
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Ok, I see.. That is still TOSLINK though.. :-) No worries, I think that it will work perfectly fine.
When you're able to do volume on Toslink, it's just the source doing it. (and not control data sent over the SPDIF link) That's all.
