Hello,

has anyone connected the DDRC-22A directly to analog Aktive Speakers without Volume Control. The Preamp is in this Configuration before the DDRC-22A in the chain.

Are there noises, when the DDRC-22A starts or any other disturbing or Speaker killing Noises?

Greetings from Germany

Thomas

I just ordered a DDRC-22A and will be connecting it directly to my active studio monitors. I'll follow up once I get it all set up. My hope is to use my Apple TV Remote as to control the volume of the monitor speakers.

Also my studio monitors have several controls on the back that allow changes to the high and low frequencies. Is it best to run the DDRC-22A with all these switches set at 0db to allow the speakers to be measured un their unaltered state? Currently I have the Acoustic Space switch set to compensate for use up against a rear wall. I just want to be sure im not over complicating things by having signal processing occurring in two points.

Knowing you'd have a LOT of configuration capabilities with Dirac Live custom target editor, I'd recommend that you start with basic configuration (all switches set to default on speaker). Keep it simple and just use DSP to solve any issues you might have.

Just our 2cts.

Thank you for confirming my thoughts about the settings for the monitors. I will run the room correction with everything on default and let Dirac make the corrections it needs to. Looking forward to the hearing how things change once everything is set.

One additional question.

Will the DDRC-22A also impact the crossover for my two way active speakers? I know the crossover is occurring inside the speaker amp which is downstream from the minidsp unit. In a more traditional system the minidsp would split the signal going into the power amps which then drive the tweeter and woofer but Im not sure what is going to happen with an active speaker. It would be nice to know how the DDRC-22A will or won't impact the crossover for my system.

Thanks!

The DDRC-22A is a "stereo" unit, it's not a multiway processor. It won't process anything for multiway. So not sure what you mean by "impact" the crossover, but it would be hard knowing it's a stereo unit.. :-) Keep it simple to understand how things work. The DDRC-22A is like an equalizer that you were doing at the input of your source (e.g. on your PC as a plugin or on your audio player graphic EQ). it will correct the measured response for your Left and Right speaker as a whole.

Wouldn't the DDRC-22DA make more sense with active monitors? That way you avoid the additional A/D -> D/A conversion for the digital correction.

I'm using the 22D in my main system between my digital sources and my DAC.
