This evening I thought of listening to some mono recordings for a change, dare I say Frank Sinatra and Chet Baker. While listening I switched to bypass on my Minidsp and the sound went straight to the centre between my speakers as you might expect from a mono recording. (In fact I got up to check if the sound was coming from the centre speaker!)Switching back to the DSP circuit the sound became spread out and far less clear. There is no doubt in my mind that the DPS is causing a sort of phasing problem. Has anyone else tried listening to a mono recording with thier DSP? It's not a big problem for me, but it would be interested to know what is going on. Rodney.
PS. I should make it clear that I am using a NanoAVR DL HDMI audio processor. When I used the term 'bypass', I meant to say Dirac Live filter enabled/disabled. The line-up is: Oppo 105 player to NanoAVR to Onkyo AVreceiver to power amp to TDL Reference Standard speakers.

@ Arnoldi

We've never tested a mono setup I'm afraid..
When you click bypass the time alignment is still in place (based on Dirac setup) so most likely the issue you're hearing here.

HTH.
