Hi,

(New to digital room correction so my apologies if this is a dumb question.) I'm using the UMIK-1 with Dirac Live 1.2 software to do room correction. The Dirac manual notes (section 4.3.4, page 17) that, depending on the microphone model, you should either orient it pointing up at the ceiling or toward the front speakers. Any suggestions on which I should use with the UMIK-1 ? I'm assuming since it's an omni then pointing upwards would be best, but the miniDSP app note doesn't mention any recommended orientation.

The needed calibration file for the Umik-1 is for a pointing up position.

The answer to this question depends on the setup you're trying to correct.
- Stereo system (i.e. 2ch dirac live), Use the 0deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the speakers
- Multichannel system (E.g. 5.1/7.1), use the 90deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the ceiling.

Mario: You can download the individual calibration files for your UMIK-1 on the product page for the UMIK-1 here:

Scroll down and then enter your serial number to download both the 0deg and 90deg files.

@Devteam this would be a great addition to the user manual. It makes sense once you hear it but it wasn't obvious to me either.
