I seem to have a problem to program DDRC24 with REW autoEQ. The filters generated by REW do not correspond to those showing
in DDRC24 after loading. And the downloaded files do not really correct anything.
Am I doing something possibly wrong or DDRC24 is not fully compatible with REW autoEQ?
I don't see the DDRC24 processor on the REW "equaliser" list , so I choose MiniDSP 2x4 HD.
REW v 5.16 on MacOS 10.11.6
Manual EQ/XO on DDRC24 work fine.

The DDRC24 runs at 48 kHz so you would need to select the normal miniDSP option not the 2x4 HD option.

Thanks. It works, bit still needs a lot o manual adjustment. Is it normal? I'm quite fresh to REW and minidsp.

Without any graphs or anything, it's hard to provide an answer... usually, once you have the parameters in REW set well, then the measured response after loading the filters should match the predicted one.

There's also the question of what exactly you are doing... This is a DDRC-24, so the REW EQ is for driver correction (based on gated measurement)?

I am measuring outdoors a two way dipole. Trying mostly to correct dipole peak and rollover between 100 and 1000hz. The speaker internal XO is analogue at ca 2200hz. I measure both drivers together.
With autoEQ the control measurement is not satisfactory. With manual corrections is ok within +/- 3db. I set up XO with earlier EQed subs at 80 or 100hz. The system when measured in room is worse than with no REW autoEQ corrections.
Perhaps I should use the ddcr plugin only for the dipole/sub XO and rely for inroom dirac corrections for the rest?

I don't have enough information to provide a useful response. What is the two-way dipole? Is it an off the shelf speaker? Or something you built yourself?

OK :) Generally speaking, I would suggest that you use a shelving filter to compensate for the dipole rolloff, and a notch for the dipole peak. That's the starting point. You may need additional EQ for the driver characteristics.

The auto-eq is a little difficult to use with a dipole because the dipole features vary with distance see e.g. www.hifizine.com/2012/03/on-dipole-subwoofer-placement/ so you end up with a conflict between measuring the dipole accurately and measurement anomalies from reflections.

If you do want to use auto eq I would suggest at a minimum programming in the expected dipole rolloff as a shelving filter (set the EQ filter to "manual").

I like the idea of getting the speaker right sans Dirac and then using Dirac for the room. However the approach you suggest "use the ddcr plugin only for the dipole/sub XO and rely for inroom dirac corrections for the rest" may work well. Give it a try ;)

Thank you John. All that information is very useful, especially the link to your article where I found more of your relevant articles and now I am reading them all. On the weekend I will try to apply the knowledge to measurements. Thanks again.
