How Internal operating sample rate 96 kHz or 48 kHz can affect characteristics of sound, for example DDRC-24 vs 2 * 4HD (without upgrades to DDRC-24) ? Thanks for the reply.

I don't think that we should be the one answering that question.. :-) We're quite biased on the concept of sample rate.. To our mind, a properly room corrected system @ 48K (E.g. with Dirac Live) is light years more important/relevant/easy to spot than a 384k or why not 768kHz raw dac playing in a room..
Then again, we stated a disclaimer at the begining of this post.. ;-)

How about hearing for yourself using Dirac Live trial software from dirac.com? (e.g. running Dirac @ 48Khz from your DAC vs Running raw @ 192kHz)

I will certainly try Dirac free in all possible ways, but only when I replace the tweeters to the now already old Jamo Concert 11 (870 D) speakers, the results of such test will follow in due course.

Personally, I am not a devotee of upsampling in audio and my question is not related to the sound quality due to the sample rate of the signal (44.1, 48, 96, 192 kHz, etc.). So, please explain the meaning of two parameters that appear on link:

immediately under the subheading Features:

◦ Maximum input sample rate: 216 kHz and
◦ Internal operating sample rate; 96 kHz

There's an asynchronous sample rate convertor on the input. Any sample rate up to 216 kHz will be converted to the internal sample rate of 96 kHz.

It is, therefore, the downsampling. ? In fact, it seems to me that over 90 % of music is still natively sampled with 44.1 kHz which is quite satisfactory standard for listening audio from PCM signals (just my opinion and not discuss about DSD modulation which, I think, gives quite a different sound).

So, in practice, 2 channel 44.1 kHz FLAC signal will be first (on input) always converted to the 48 kHz PCM on the device like DDRC-24 ?

Yes, in the case of the DDRC-24, any digital input signal will be converted to 48 kHz.

For the sake of accuracy, FLAC is the file format, it is not sent to the DDRC-24 (or 2x4 HD). Just USB Audio :)

Hello,

I have a DDRC24 running between my power and preamp. I would like to change this so the DDRC24 would be a line level source and I use USB input from my media center.

If I let my HTPC resample all my music to 48KHz would this be the best? My music is 99% at 44,1KHz but with foobar I can convert that upfront. Or would that harm the sound? I have good confidence in the resampler plugins in foobar and I'm quite unsure of the quality of the resamples in the DDRC.

If I input 48KHz would this be native so the MiniDSP does not resample?

hi,
from my experience DDRC24 is great for playing files 44.1. The DDRC24 has an ASRC at the input and it is likely that it can not be avoided. But there is no need for this if you use 44.1.

However, be careful if DDRC24 is a preamp, it has an output of 560 ohms, my advice is to listen to your music for a few days in one way and then otherwise. Only then did you make the decision.
