I recently bought a NanoAVR DL. My setup is as follows:
1. HDMI out from set top box (outputting Dolby Digital) to Oppo BDP HDMI Input at the back
2. BDP 103 HDMI Out 1 to LG LM6410 TV
3. BDP 103 HDMI Out 2 to NanoAVR DL HDMI In 1 ( Oppo HDMI set to Dual Display mode)
4. NanoAVR DL HDMI Out to Monoprice 7974 HDMI switch
5. Optical Out from Monoprice 7974 to Paradigm Soundscape soundbar

Stereo setup is fine, and I already like the difference that the NanoAVR DL makes to my sound right out of the box.

HT is another matter though. The Paradigm Soundscape is a 5.1 powered soundbar. During DLCT setup, I can hear the test tones from the left and right speakers only. Center and surrounds have no sound.
I have verified that I can play test tones through all 5 speakers (but not the internal sub) through the same setup when using the Spears and Munsil disc's audio calibration section.

I have tried setting the speaker configuration in DLCT to 5.1 and various custom configurations, all to no avail. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Perhaps you have HDMI Channel mode set to stereo? (In nanoAVR DL utility)

No. It is set to 5.1 in the NanoAVR DL utility.

Um.. you are saying you can play 5.1 audio through the nanoAVR DL. But not when you try to run a calibration? Does it do 6 sweeps?

Yes.

No. My issue is that, when setting levels in DLCT, I can't hear the test tones through anything but the right and left channels. As mentioned, I can hear the pink noise test tones through the fronts and surrounds from the Spears and Munsil disc with audio going through the NanoAVR DL.

Weird. I can only guess it's some sort of handshaking issue with the convertor. Sorry I can't help

I think you just did with that handshaking issue comment. The good news is that I think I know what the issue might be. The bad news is that the issue is most likely a blown center channel tweeter .

I had to set the Oppo HDMI to dual display mode because the HDMI in to the NanoAVR DL required video to be sent along for calibration. My suspicion, based on your comment about handshaking issues, was that with Oppo's HDMI Out 1 going to TV (and my LG is not capable of passing through 5.1 over optical), the audio via HDMI Out 2 was also being downmixed to Stereo in that mode.

So, I chose the Split AV mode to take the handshake with the display out of the equation (no audio on Oppo's HDMI Out 1 in this scenario). Once I did that though, center channel dialogue was either too low or non-existent.

I had assumed that, based on pink noise test tone coming out of the center channel and dialogue from what I believed was 5.1 set-top box programming, that the center channel was in good shape. I was wrong. Off to get a technician to look at this. Will keep the forum posted on how this develops. Thanks for your help!

So, the center channel is fine (phew!).

I have opened a support ticket for this issue. I'll post here once I have a resolution.

In the meantime, I'd be happy to try any other suggestions forum members might have.

To summarize: 5.1 works fine in my setup, except when the NanoAVR DL is in the chain (with no filters and no Dirac processing).
