Hello
I have some questions before buying DDRC 88A.
- can you use as an active crossover(in addition of DRC of course) ?
- Is it possible to add digital inputs and /or outputs to the DDRC 88?
I would like to have 2 configurations, one with 7.1 analog inputs to 7.1 outputs, and one with stereo digital inputs and 2.1 or 2.2 outputs
Thanks for your help!
Greg

No, it's a room correction device. However, the DDRC88-BM plugin/upgrade that was announced at CES in January will do that. (I don't know when it will be available or the price, but I believe miniDSP is working on it.)

No, I don't believe so.

HTH :)

Thanks for answering. It's a pity there is no way to go digital as this ends up with double AD/DA conversion....

If I were rich I would buy both...I look at movies and listen music, not at the same time so wish one machine (or at least one Dirac live license) could do both by switching inputs. I believe I'm not alone in this situation! :silly:

The intended usage of the 88A is between an A/V processor (or receiver with pre outs) and amplification. You use the processor to do all the switching of your inputs etc. There's plenty of users/owners in the long thread on avsforum who seem unconcerned about the "double AD/DA conversion", I suppose you could ask them what they think, I'm sure plenty of them listen to music also ;)

Ok thanks.
Last question : except the 48 vs 96 frequency, is there any difference between the 22 A and 88 DDRC in terms of sound, (same filters and algorithms from dirac? Audio quality of the DAC?).
Thanks

Correct. Different sample rate, so indeed different size of the filters. (that's normal relationship).
You can't really compare easily these 2 platforms (different DAC, different sample rate) but indeed they are very close. :-)

If the DDRC-88A was given digital inputs I would buy one tomorrow. Dear miniDSP team, I love my C-DSP 8x12DL in my car, and a home equivalent would be perfect. Thanks!
